While a good deal, the use of RRP on the page is just completely wrong and misleading. The actual price on Steam is US$39.99, not $99.95 as per your site.

Do you know what RRP is? Recommended Retail Price. Steam is not retail. It is digital. So the RRP of $100 is correct, stores use it as a legitimate way to trick people into thinking they're getting a bargain.

Don't point out flaws in this great detective work. I think DungeonCrawl are misleading the community for massive profits.

@DungeonCrawl can you please change your website from saying "Save 95% off RRP" to "Save 87.5% off Standard Steam Price". I think it would be the first step to repairing community relations.

        • Hey Modukun, we have fixed the error but we certainly don't use the RRP as a means of misleading people or as a form of trickery. Most of the RRP prices come from direct feeds from local distributors as a way of keeping them as up to date as possible, and we manually check them when we get new stock in. Sometimes they don't update the feeds and old RRP remain however If you point it out we fix it, plain and simple.

        • Was tongue in cheek. It's a great deal.

      • RRP is a tricky one to get right nowadays especially in the realm of online retail. Usually we base it off the RRP given by local distributors or off EB Games (as they usually have their stock at RRP). If you ever spot an error or an oddly large RRP just shoot us an email and we'll review it ASAP.

        Steam is retail.

"Retail is the sale of goods and services from individuals or businesses to the end-user." (Wiki)
They also go on with a bit more detail, including digital distribution. Steam, in their our terms, define themselves as a Social Networking site who manage "Digital Rights" of games they retail.

That said, it's a STEAM KEY, not EB Games, not JB, not GamersGate, not Origin, it's a Steam key.

If Steam's price is $39.99, then that's the RRP. iTunes also sell it at $US19.99 (https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/the-darkness-ii/id498002581?…)

Lastly, if you still truly believe the RRP for a digital download of Darkness II is $100, go to the developers website.

It is an excellent deal, I like Dungeon Crawl, but I too believe using an incorrect RRP of $100 is misleading.

Thanks for picking up on that - not trying to be misleading, we usually have 99.99 as a placeholder and normally they get updated when we get new stock in. (As haven't had a restock of this in a while, that RRP hasn't been updated).

Have fixed it now so the RRP should be the Steam price converted to AUD :)

  • Great price. Cheapest I can find elsewhere is 4.84USD.

  • Good price,But im still waiting for my key and my payment has been made.

  • Got it for $4 for ps3 brand new from ebgames

    • That's an amazing price. It's a good series, shame it didn't get the attention it should have.

  • You really should change all your "Format Information" to be less misleading. For example, Pokemon White 2 for the Nintendo DS (actually a DSi enhanced game) just says "Australian Compatible Version". It would be extremely helpful if you could actually state whether it was the AU/UK version or the US version. It was the US version I received when I purchased it … which I complained about to your staff, but they didn't care. Nor has it been fixed on your website. So I think people should know.

FYI: While DS games are region free, DSi enhanced and 3DS games are NOT region free. The US version DSi enhanced Pokemon White 2 game is not compatible on the Australian 3DS … therefore, the "Australian Compatible Version" statement is misleading. This applies for all DSi enhanced games - if you are selling the US versions of those games to Australian customers who own an Australian 3DS, the games are not "Australian Compatible Versions" as you claim on your website.

I would not have purchased the game at all if your website had simply stated that it was the US version, as I would then know it was incompatible with my Australian 3DS.

    Hey Jippy,

Thanks for the comments, can you please elaborate on the features that weren't werent working? We will test the US version now on our AUS 3DS and if there are any issues we wil address the listing immediately ( we always test our games before dispatch to enure there are no region lock issues, and the b/w 2 us copy was tested on an AUS 3ds at launch - as well as tested with a pal version of dream catcher and we had no issues then but obviously a change in the print or an update can change this).

    Regards,

    DC

    • So why didn't the staff member I spoke with about the issue bring this up? He could've told me everything you just told me. I purchased the game in December 2012 and no longer have it.

This is what your staff member (Tony) said to me when I complained about it being the US version and not as listed:

"The listing clearly stated that this game is for the Nintendo DS version and not for the 3DS console. DS games are not compatible with the 3DS consoles."

Not very helpful (nor correct) customer service.

      • You are right, that wasn't good enough. I'm sorry to hear you got told the completely wrong imformation however I can happily tell you that the customer service side of the business has improved dramatically since 2012 - with a better training program brought in as well as additional staff. I know it's not much of a silver lining particularly in your case, but we take lapses in our service very seriously, and once informed about them, attempt to fix them ASAP.
