  • OW will be busy updating its prices to avoid 5% price beat.

  • I am tempting to get it from TGG with their 120% price guarantee. But will it work in TGG?

    • -1

The good guys 120% price beat??? Since when

        • +6

ah yes the old 120% price beat deal. Not exactly what many think it will be.

          Price at store A = $200 (X)
          Price at GG = $180 (Y)

          GG will offer you this

          $180 less 20% of the DIFFERENCE between X+Y = 20% of $20 = $4
          Price $176

          Vs an Officeworks Price Match of 5% better, $180 - 9 = $171

        • You are true genius my little friend

        • THIS is what TGG expects everyone to know…

        • +7

Genius … TGG will beat a price higher than theirs.

    • Good idea for the mini with retina but not much you can get for the air as it is already $558 @TGG.

      • where, im seeing $598
        http://www.thegoodguys.com.au/buyonline/Computers,Tablets&Accessories/iPad,_Tablet&_eReader

  • Works out $284 with Officeworks price match, $289 with TGG price match, so take your pick!
And another 5% off if you pay with ING card, in 3 payments of course….

    • How you price match at officeworks?? Isnt it u have to order online for ipads??

Does TGG have stock instore or u have to preorder???
And do they beat 120% on spot or u have to buy first pay full price and claim if its chcesper elsewhere??

      • you just call their 1300 OFFICE number and you can make the order over the phone :)

      • Most TGG have limited stocks of iPads on hand (usually only 1 or 2 of each model), and you usually need to place an order. I called 7 TGG stores in Sydney before I found one which had one in stock. I bought my iPad last week and used my AMEX $50 rebate.

The normal TGG price for iPads is usually $30 cheaper than Apple anyway, so the $50 off is really an additional $20 saving from the normal TGG price.

      • I bought an iPad Air just yesterday at TGG (with the 50$ Amex offer) for $558 … so its now $547 at DS. $11 difference —> this means I would get $13.20 back.

I see that they have an online form for this. Does anyone know if that is hassle free … would they just credit my Amex Card? And would that have an effect on the Amex Offer?

        • +1

Should be fine. If Amex screws up your $50 stat credit just call them they will sort out for you.

        • +1

Btw TGG said will refund how the original method of payment was made but if you want to be sure it doesn't affect your amex $50 promo TGG you can op for a gift card.

        • Thanks :-) Will give it a go …

        • I applied for an price match on my iPad yesterday and got a call from my TGG store almost straight away. They said they would be happy to refund me 120% of the difference.

When I got to the store, they even added an extra $4 to my discount and said it was to cover petrol costs. That's great customer service. Thanks TGG Caringbah!

    • beat me to it. i was trying to show people the calculation for TGG's price guarantee.
for people who dont know the refund is 120% for the DIFFERENCE, whereas officeworks is 5% of the lowest price

    • +1

Just to be clear, this is the price of the previous gen iPad mini, not the new retina version. Dickies has the retina display iPad mini 16gb at $427 after the $50 off…

    • ING card, in 3 payments of course….

ING won't like that and you will risk losing your benefits. Can't do it if you have to order on line either.

    • Which model is for $284?

      • this would be the ipad mini 1st gen (16gb wifi)

  • 32gb ipad air is out of stock =(

    • Sorry no its actually there

  • +2

TGG price match is a good thing for those with the Amex's TGG $50 credit for $250 spend.

    • but that means you need to buy it then go back to them with the price match & bear the risk of prices changing/out of stock issues etc

      • TGG has both before and after purchase price guarantee

        • oh really - i read through the guarantee as a post 30 day guarantee. if its prior to purchase they will simply match the price

  • hmmmm tempting, but i just sold my ipad air 128gb on ebay cause i had no use for it..
damn it ozbargain i feel like i have the need to purchase the ipad mini with retina 4g :/

    • +3

      Need is irrelevant here.

  • +1

Should I get TGG to price match or should I purchase at the full price and use the 120% price guarantee?

    • im thinking the same thing

  • Probably even cheaper here for an ipad air via ebay groupbuy
    http://groupbuy.ebay.com.au/deal?itemId=161275801150
    $525.00

  • Price matched the 16GB retina mini (WiFi) with Officeworks over the phone for $405.

  • Called TGG Artarmon and they said they can't price match Mini Ipad 16GB retina as it's below their cost and that they will be losing money.

    • That's when you kindly remind them the publicly state a "Price Match Guarantee" - They guarantee to beat it

  • Price matched the 16GB Ipad mini wifi for $282.15 successfully at Officeworks.

  • Damn ozbargain always making me spend so much money!
Price matched at Officeworks over the phone ipad mini retina cellular 64gb $758.10

    • should go for 128gb given it is only $100 more for another 64gb. Maybe just me..

      • +5

I know but I had that theory from 32gb to 64gb haha.

    hi guys

I want to purchase the mac 13.3 inch retina :$1849 , so I could call TGG now and take a further 5%?

  • Just got a refund of $36 at Goodguys using Price beat guarantee. Toped up with $50 Amex credit and gst refund, got Ipad mini retina 32G wifi for $440. Thanks OP.

    • Did you just fill in the form on their website? They refunded you that quickly?

      • No, I had to go into the store, lucky I am having a day off and TGG is only 5 mins away.
I was gonna do online claim as well but when I called up, I was told even submitted the form online, you will still need to go into the store for them to process the refund.

    • I emailed TGG auburn as soon as this deal went up and still waiting for refund.

  • +2

TGG have now dropped their prices to the same as Dick Smith. I assume Officeworks will follow soon.

    • +1

Ah well, that would have saved me the hassle. TGG got a bit reluctant when I price matched and then reached for the amex card. Still, 20 bucks is 20 bucks.

      • +1

yeah that is a lot of Maccas ice cream cones.

  • Great deal got OW price match for $519.65 plus friend is going overseas so another 10% gst claimed back

  • Got Officeworks Five Dock to price beat the ipad mini 16gb wifi for $281.20!!!!
    Thanks unity1

    • Just got the same in East Victoria Park, WA. :)

  • tried to price match with officeworks but they said their price just got changed so they wouldn't price match it

    • Their online price hasn't changed. Try and place an order over the phone before their online prices get changed.

      • I tried, i called them up and we were in the processing of price matching it and then she goes 'we can't price match it cause our price is similar' i told her the website price is still the same and she told me they changed it couple minutes ago…

        • Well, it looks like some prices have changed. Maybe Officeworks are targeting certain models to clear them out. Here are the discrepancies (some are out of stock):

          iPad Air:
          128GB WiFi - DS $848 - OW $868 (Silver)
          64GB WiFi - DS $748 - OW $768 (Silver)
          32GB WiFi - DS $648 - OW $668

          iPad mini Retina:
          128GB Cell - DS $898 - OW $949
          128GB WiFi - DS $748 - OW $799
          64GB Cell - DS $798 - OW $849
          64GB WiFi - DS $648 - OW $678 (Grey)
          32GB Cell - DS $698 - OW $749 (Silver)
          32GB WiFi - DS $548 - OW $598
          16GB Cell - DS $578 - OW $629 (Grey)
          16GB WiFi - DS $427 - OW $468

          iPad mini:
          16GB Cell - DS $436 - OW $499
          16GB WiFi - DS $296 - OW $338

        • Looks like prices are still changing. It's hard to keep up.

  • Hello guys,

If you go to Dick Smith to pick up IPAD that costs less than $399, Dick Smith staff normally would offer you an extra protection cover for 1 year. What happen is, with this protection/cover, you can claim your iPad to be faulty (even though it's not faulty) and Dick Smith will refund your money in Credit in a form of Dick Smith Gift Card. No question asked. No assessment to be done on your iPad. This warranty costs about $35.

It may sound wonderful when you listen to the sales guy talking about this protection but whatever you're thinking, DO NOT GET IT. Unless you're clumsy person and have no tendency to take care of your stuff and likely to break your iPad within one year. Or If you decide that you have no use for this iPad and want to buy different thing from Dick Smith, this warranty is essentially good ONLY FOR THAT purpose.

    Here's why:

1.) If you think about getting this protection program in order to get the latest iPad next year, you'll still pay the remainder of the cost of the new iPad but you pay $35 just to enable this option. To me personally, It's like Dick Smith is offering a loan program for your iPad and charges you $35 for it. But you'll never get your money back in Cash.

2.) If you're counting for Dick Smith to offer you similar discount in the future like what they are doing this week and you are thinking to take advantage of this protection program for that, I say forget it. I doubt that Dick Smith will offer you similar discount within one year of purchase and even if they do, you need to take account of how long the promotion goes for and it's likely to be 7 days or less. If you intend to claim this cover, try asking yourself….is it likely that the Dick Smith Gift card would arrive within this promotion date? because you do need to send in your iPad and wait for the gift card to arrive in your mail box. So take that into consideration as well.

3.) With the cost of $35, it effectively kills the main purpose of this promotion which is to take advantage of $50 off. If you take the protection program, you're only left with $15 off.

So yeah, that's my opinion about this protection program Dick Smith offer. Feel free to contribute your ideas about this. :) I'm letting you know about this because I almost fell for this wonderful protection program.

    Cheers

  • Office works now has 32GB IPAD AIR for $668.
Does anyone know if DickSmith will price match it? I want to use my Gift Cards as I get 5% off to purchase the gift cards.
JB HIFI refused to price match.

    • DSE has the below cost BS but why don't you give it try anyway?
