Kobo Arc 7" Android Tab 64GB $149 @ JB Hi-Fi

80

I bought this at the Elizabeth St - Hardware (Melbourne) store this morning. Not sure if they're available at other stores.
They also had the 32GB models for $139.

Here's a copy of the receipt:

This was made to be more of a reader like the Kindle etc. Does not have the usual android interface either.
Battery life on this tablet is tested to be better than Nexus 7's due to the TI OMP chip.

And its only dropped $20 since October 2013..

If you want to get personal, I think people negged you because you drive a Holden.

        • +4

why on earth would you assume that they were the one that negged you when you acted an ass?
It runs linux (it underpins all android) too but that doesn't make it a usable server.
There is also a MASSIVE difference between e-reader and tablet screens, and between the way performance/power balance is set up on them.
PLEASE stick to stuff you have knowledge about. and for gods sake please learn to spell, it isn't hard with the spell checker built into every modern browser. PLEASE

        • PLEASE learn to use capitalisation and correct grammar.

          Just playin' ;)

you can keep an eye on ebay and gumtree you should easily be able to pick up one used for cheap.

        • Thanks, I missed that one.
OW website says my local has stock, so will try in the morning.
I'm sure the kid would be happy with either.

        • Good luck.

edit: didnt set my local store there is some here at wentworthville according to this site.

Comment negging shows what the community thinks of a post, it also has the effect of invalidating a deal neg if you get -6.
The rest of us think it is pretty important. Being nice, or helpful, gets you plusses :)

It is a way for the community to get rid of votes they think are unhelpful

no prizes on who would neg a simple informative post because they don't like the facts in it. (i'm being generous and ignoring the 'petty petty revenge for imagined slight' possibility)

Maybe somebody who hasn't been here a month yet and is already well known to the mods, but keeps ignoring the rules, possibly because they think they are either optional or their opinion is too important to be held back.

They are here btw https://www.ozbargain.com.au/wiki/help:rules_guidelines in case anyone couldnt find them. Click on wiki and then rules and guidelines. :)
I look forward to your productive future posts (Whoever happens to read them)

Just so you know - i dont tend to waste my neg votes, you only get a few a day.

my first and second posts where informative i was stateing how a nexus 7 was a better deal. yet i get negged.
thats why this whole negging is a flawed concept as people doesnt use it properly.

        • The negs were therefore showing that the community disagrees with your opinion on both the Nexus 7 being the better deal and the flawed voting system. Simply take it as feedback, you can choose to ignore it if you still truly believe in what you have said or adjust your opinion.

Continuing to complain about getting more negs will (no surprises) earn you more negs.

        • ok then the nexus 7 is a terrible deal.
          now watch this gets negged.

        • I think missing the point of bob_wangkar's first comment. The Nexus 7 is a good product, this Kobo is a good product but its like comparing a 4wd to a hatchback; both are designed to do different things. Each does their own thing well, but they don't do well what the other does.

        • I tend to disagree. Maybe the marketing is different, but the hardware designs are very similar. And the software differences are purely superficial. The Nexus-7 is just as good for reading ebooks, and the Arc almost as good for games.

  • Can these connect to the google play store.

    • Yes, out of the box, with no hack needed. Finding a shop with stock is the problem.

  • Not to mention 16gb $129
