    Waiting for some Syd>japan deals!

    • If you don't mind flying in to Nagoya(Chubu) and with Air Asia X, They have some $550* return fares from SYD around August etc

      • I don't mind nagoya but i do mind the crazy stop overs. Iirc your journey ends up taking an entire day?
The Jetstar flights only have 2-3hr stops at the coast.

        • Yes im aware of those crazy stop overs, i have done many haha, how ever with the new KLIA2 terminal and direct high speed rail into KL you could kill a few hours, or even break up the journey and visit Malaysia.

Guess it all comes down to time over money. Hope a sale comes up soon :)

    • Look away.. Was $128 1way to Narita last Jetstar Boxing Day Sale from Sydney/Melbourne/Hobart.

    • Direct return flight arriving Melbourne at 0:15 AM….
So there is no connection flight to other domestic cities if you choose this flight.

Cheap but not practical ex SYD.

      • Yes this is why the deal is listed ex Melbourne only.
Sydney to Tokyo would go via OOL & CNS to NRT Jetstar service.

  • Flights TO Narita from
    Cairns $229
    Gold Coast $269
    Melbourne $289
    Hobart $375
    Sydney $394
    Brisbane $397
    Perth $519

    Flights TO Osaka from
    Narita $52
    Cairns $219
    Brisbane $387

Other departures on sale, especially with Japan.
    Flight home is usually cheaper

  • I really want to check Japan out.. Thoughts about Sep / Early Oct?

    • Great time of year to go. If you're gonna stay in southern Honshu (Tokyo/Osaka/Kyoto/Hiroshima) make it September, it'll start to cool down pretty fast come October.

    • Was in Kansai area at that time last year. Only issue was typhoon season was late, causing flooding, closure of rail lines for days & some damage. Enjoyed it anyway.

      • That typhoon sucked, it wasn't the actual typhoon that was bad, just the rain.

        • There was a lot of rain from a few typhoons. Locals were talking about how typhoon season is lasting later & longer. Met many people whose travel plans were abandoned after JR closed down any line through Kyoto for days - and that means Shinkansen & all regional trains for hundreds of km. I was in a small town east of Kansai when one swept in, killing 76 people further on.

    • I've been to Japan in late September/early October. Can be surprisingly warm in Tokyo/Osaka. The only problem you'll have is that it's typhoon season. I was lucky and got to see an outdoor festival because the typhoon rainstorm finished the day before.

  • Is that expiry date a placeholder or does it last until golden week ends?

  • Whilst I love the fact that it's cheaper than ever to get to NRT, I can't get over the bus ticket to get from the airport to Tokyo downtown. Last I heard it was 5000 Yen pp each way. That's over AUD$200 for 2 ppl return (if you go with a partner).

Anyone got a significantly cheaper way to get to/from the airport that would include luggage?

      Ways from NRT to Tokyo.
Expensive compared to other airport's around the world i agree, if you have a JR RAIL PASS you could waive the cost.

      Cheapest
      By Tokyo Shuttle bus
Direct, 90 minutes, 900 yen, 1 connection per hour
This discount bus service operates roughly once per hour between Narita Airport and Tokyo Station. The one way fare is 900 yen. Advance reservations are possible.

    • Catch the Narita Express train. Fast and pretty good value.

  • Even cheaper now in October, just $489 return:
Dep. Fri 24/Oct/14 Ret. Wed 29/Oct/14 $489 ($506 inc CC fees).
