This is amazing – Notability has never been free before. I use this app almost every day; it has become indispensable for me.

It has received an Editors' Choice award and numerous glowing reviews. In fact, Apple themselves use it:

“We rely on this sleek powerful note-taker to annotate documents, record lectures, sketch illustrations, and more… on both iPhone® and iPad®.”

Grab it while it lasts!

Yes, the latest version is compatible with iOS 6 also.

Description

Apple Editors' Choice

Welcome to Notability, a powerful note-taker on iPad and iPhone: sketch ideas, annotate documents, sign contracts, complete worksheets, keep a journal, record a lecture, jot travel notes, or teach a class. With iCloud support, your notes always travel with you!

Write, illustrate and annotate using gorgeous ink. Notability's zoom window helps you quickly and clearly draw every detail, while the palm rest protects your notes from unwanted marks. Choose the right pen and paper for any project.

Import forms, contracts, worksheets, documents, presentations, and even books; then use the same tools that help you take beautiful notes in Notability to mark up PDFs. Do you have files in other formats such as doc or ppt? Notability can import these too thanks to Google Drive.

Type an essay, create an outline, fill out an application, or make a list with Notability's advanced word processor. Choose a font, style, color, and size that enhances your work. Even place text exactly where you want using text boxes.

Replay your notes! Everything you type, write or add to your note is linked to the audio recording, giving you more context than ever when reviewing. Just tap play and watch your note unfold. Want to jump to a specific point in the recording? Tap a word with the navigation tool and you’ll go to that point in the recording.

Finding information quickly is an important part of note-taking. Use search to quickly locate notes by title or content. On iPad, bookmark pages of a note, filter a PDF by annotated pages, or search your note for a keyword in the page navigator.

Organize your notes by subject in the library and automatically backup all of your work to Dropbox, Box, Google Drive, or webDAV. Also, use these services, plus email, Airdrop, and twitter, to share your Notability files with colleagues, classmates, students or teachers. iCloud will ensure that all of your notes are automatically up to date on your iPad, iPhone, and iPod touch.

Notability gives life to your ideas, stores your notes, and improves your memory and organization. We hope you enjoy using it as much as we do.

We always love to hear from customers, so join us on Facebook and Twitter, or send us an email.

    • I concur!

This app is the best notetaking app on any tablet.

I must agree, I've tried it with both Valium and Prozac and it's great…

  • It's pretty good app though I bought it about 2 years ago so can't really buy it for free again :-(

    • +1

      I know the feeling :(

Ah well – you probably got $3 worth out of it during that time :)

  • +2

thanks OP bought 3 (i mean downloaded 3 - to my iPhone, personal iPad, and work iPad) …

    • No worries mate!

  • Better than evernote?

    • It's actually quite different to Evernote – I use Evernote for different tasks. I primarily use Notability for lecture note-taking, as the audio syncs with your typing and drawing.

I've also found it has the best drawing tools; it is very intuitive and responds very well to the [inaccurate] finger.

  • Thanks OP.

Was going to buy this just last week!

      You're welcome :)

Just goes to show that patience truly is a virtue – an OzBargain virtue!

Bought this last semester for uni and highly recommend it. Very handy app for uni students.

    • It's perfect for students!

      • Only downside of the app are the colours of the highlighter tool… Fluorescent colours should also be used in this app, not just the 80s and costume parties.

Wish they had this on Google play.. the only thing i miss from my iPad

    • Yep I've found there's nothing as good as it…

    UN-FREAKIN-BELIEVABLE !!!

I was going to shell out for this app last night. Turns out my credit card detail was out of date, and I couldn't be arsed in setting up another card, so I didn't buy it.

I get home from work just now, check OzB before I even say hello to the Missus, and there it is…

itsfree and OzB delivers the app to me for FFFFFFFFFRRRRREEEEEEEEEE!

    Yippee!

This site and members like itsfree are SENSATIONAL.

i just downloaded 3 x copies….iphone, work ipad and personal ipad.

This app is off the chain. Pen and paper days are now gooorrrrnnn.

Thank-you itsfree. Thank you OzBargain community.

Haha you're most welcome! It's a pleasure helping out my fellow "OzBargain Brothers", as I like to call them, and this kind of response makes it all worth it :)

  • Sorry if this is a silly question, but how do people download 3 copies? Once I downloaded it on my ipad, when I go to my iPhone it's already saved in my apple account and can download it there without having to "buy" it again (if I had to pay for it I mean).

    • +1

Haha that's what they mean :)

    • Unfortunately you can only purchase it once (that's the limitation of Apple Store).
But you can just delete it and download it again. 3 times.

      • +1

I don't see it as a limitation – it's great I don't have to buy something multiple times for all my family's devices!

  • Anyone got a stylus recommendation for use with the ipad?

    • +1

I have the Adonit Jot Pro.

If you are writing, then it is the best I have used, IMO.

The fine tip makes all the difference for writing clean, neat notes.

Not the cheapest, but well worth it.

Are there charges for in-app purchases? All these free apps have some catch.

    • +1

This is previously a paid app, not a free app in the traditional sense.

So you are getting the fully fledged version.

One of the few apps I use every day. In fact it's the reason I got an iPad years ago. Paid close to 10 bucks and was worth every cent.

I use a cheap stylus from officeworks (2bucks at the moment) not great quality but efficient and useful to me as I'm constantly loosing them.

    • Yes it's proven to be one of the best apps ever for me…
