    Hi OP,
I'm thinking of buying about 40-50 units of the 5110 lcd unit. They used to cost $270 each back in 98. I recently bought myself a time machine on ebay last week and want to make a lot of money now.

Please give me your best price
    Thanks

forget that, silly plan. you just need the 1950 to 2000 sports almanac…

    • for $270 did they come with a free phone?

Just sell them some y2k software.

    • Wow, Nokia must have had lots of leftovers because they couldn't match the Shanzhai phone makers.

      No you didn't!

  • Hi OP,

The step-down power supply module is it's output 12V or 5V because the description on your web-page says:

    Output volt:5V
    output current:1.5A(MAX)

If they are using the 7812 voltage regulator chip then the description is wrong. Supporting evidence is that the min input voltage is 14.5V which gives the regulator enough working margin.

      • I don't know if that's true, but have a +1 for putting it in such an eloquent manner that I believe it to be so.

      • Yeah, the item title, closeup photos and parts listing show a 7812 but the description's output voltage implies a 7805. I'd say it's just a bit of bad copy in the description's output voltage. That's known to happen in icstation listings.

You could just replace the 7812 in this kit with a 7805 if you want 5V. Just don't put the 7812's max input voltage across one though :)

For comparison, the 7812 alone from Altronics/Jaycar is about a dollar forty/fifty.

    • Be aware that this voltage regulator works by dissipating the difference as heat so if the current is large the heatsink will get hot.

  • What on earth are these for???

Electronics tinkerers. Arduino, Raspberry Pi, Beagle Bone, that kind of mob.

    • Getting a regulated 12V off a 24V circuit. I used to use the 5V ones in my car a long time ago.
