Get a McChicken for $3.15 instead of $5.05 @ McDonald's

2610

In the spirit of the McFlurry https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/131568 post and todays cheeseburger https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/142665 post, I was at Melbourne Airport Maccas last week and ordered a McChicken patty on its own($1.60) and got my friend to make an order at the next register (because I was embarrassed to do so) for a McChicken bread roll (75c) with lettuce (40c) and mayo (40c) and I then shoved the patty into the roll he ordered and voila McChicken for $3.15

Dignity? This isn't theft. This is shopping. And saving money.

Again with the stupid as hell logic. Who say RRP or normal price are not bargain. If something is deem worthy in its retail value then that mean it is a bargain.

Not that i agree that this is a bargain but if you want to neg this deal you should come up with a better reason.

        • Some people will see 20c on the ground and pick it up. Others see it, think about, but then keep walking. It's not giving up your dignity. It's picking up the change everyone else is too lazy to.

        • It's not a laziness thing. It's not wanting to look like a scab, which if you're picking up 20c from the ground, you fall into this category.

        • I picked up 5c last week from the floor. used it at coles self-serving machine n pay the rest by cc

$1.90 multiplied by the 600 McChickens I buy a year is quite the saving ;)

It's not $1.90 one time only, it's $1.90 times however many McChickens you buy until McDonalds raise their prices again and then you may save even more!

Yes but then you factor in the doctor's visits and cholesterol medication and you have yourself one hell of a bill

Gotta save cash for heart surgery.

        • Unfortunately its our tax money that's going to pay for all these people's heart surgery. You'd think Dominos / KFC / Maccas would chip in.

  • This has become semi DIY forum.

Never knew that you could order bits individually??? Can I order my coke seperately to? Water and the syrup please, saves more money"

I can imagine the teenager behind the counter giving you judging looks for being a cheap ass, and the teenager is on minimum wage! While I like saving money, I dont like feeling like an embarrassed hobo for $1.90.

On the other hand, since that pinch of lettuce is 40c, why not buy a whole lettuce from Woolies etc (a whole lettuce for about $2?), and stuff them into the bun yourself for extra savings. Maybe the mayo too

    • +6

Lol then you may as well buy bread and chicken patty at the grcoers too cause it works out to be cheaper per burger…

Just go to the supermarket buy it all beforehand n sit in maccas n eat it, imagine the savings :D

Until 01/01/2015 (Expires in 245 days)

What will happen after 1/1/2015? DIY McD withdraw from sale?

Remember when McDonald's used to be cheap?

    Peperridge Farm remembers.

    • I remember when you could get a large meal for $5 and a Big Mac was you know… Big and you needed two hands to eat it, sorry pepperidge farm!

        Remember inflation?

        • +2

inflation can reduce the size of food too?

If I ever was to turn into a bum, I be trying to get onto the threads here on OzB to see the best deals!

Im loving it :)!! Cant wait to try this soon!

  • +1

    mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm im loving it

  • More amazed by the fact that a squirt of mayo costs 40c…

  • I voted + because I just wanted to join the bandwagon!

So when we buy a full made burger, we're paying like $2 for labour? haha
Asking for the patty separate then putting it in yourself for a $2 saving, Awesome.

  • +3

I haven't been to maccas in a while and I'm surprised to read a mcchicken is over $5.

  • Can I make it a meal?

  • yeah, i'd rather just get 2 mcchicken patties

  • A good addition for your cheapo burger (which is also free) is "steamed bun". They place the buns of your burger into the steamer which makes it soft (almost doughy) and hot. I get this every time i get a burger from maccas because it just makes it a little bit more special :P

  • Now that we have a baseline established, lets investigate the depth of this! Is there a price difference for the various kind of patties? What about the 'Angus' patties?

  • +1

For $5.60 I would lose the sugary bun and make a Chichen Pattie triple stacker. 3 chicken patties with lettuce and mayo sandwiched between fillets.

  • Does anyone know the prices of individual items and which is the best/largest bun they have?

I might be able to cobble together an actual quarter pounder again rather than the stupid large piece of meat sandwiched within a bun which is far too small.

Maybe we can beg for change out the front of Maccas? Perhaps rummage through the bins for uneaten food? This is not a bargain, it's an exploit that is both unethical and demeaning.

    • +1

All this does is give you an indication of where society is at, and perhaps who the regulars are on here. Junk food is prized, obviously. People aren't bothered cooking real food.

    • lol

  • Deal expired, I've just been quoted $4.95 for a single McChicken patty. No more arbitrage :(

    • If found in multiple McDonald's stores please report and the deal will be marked expired.

At the moment we only have this one experience in (presumably) one store so it's hard to say if the price has changed everywhere.

      • +1

I tried the deal at my local on Tuesday 13th and they sold the patty for $1.60, so I'd say the price is still the same.

    • Glad Maccas are clamping down on the tight-arses.

  • I never knew you could buy them in parts and pieces :O
