  Good camera, having played with both this and the 800E, if you are willing to spend this much. I'd say put a few hundred more and go for the 800E.

  Very good price for the D800. I've had mine for more than a year and are very happy with it. Need good lenses though, which I have.
  Don't buy the D800E without research and an actual need for this camera.
  36Mp in the standard D800 is plenty for most people.
  Put the extra needed for a 800E into lenses.

    That is hard to know and it has been up and down lately from those retailer. Even nikon website does not mention about the period. I think it may be the deal b/t nikon and retailers.
