Why does the new update for Amazon App Store request access to send SMS… Fishy.

    • +1

also like to know - didn't update for that reason.

      • Yeah, I am not updating anymore either.
Amazon rep, can you answer why it needs to send text messages please.

        • I havent updated the Amazon App either though, for this very reason. Sounds really sus and Amazon have not provided any justification for this permission request.

I'm not taking back my neg or using the Amazon App Store again until a valid answer is given or the permissions for the app change

        Hi all,

Permission to send SMS is required to enable Mobile Carrier Billing in selected markets.

        Thanks

Thanks, so no need for me to update the app at all then.

    • Root + LuckyPatcher = problem solved.

  • Bet Rolf Harris wish he had this app.

      Not cool!

I had a look at the Google Play permissions list for this app and there is a "Reroute outgoing calls". WTF?
    Is that dodgy?

    • seems it too me.

Extremely basic app. Hardly any useful functions whatsoever. There's 101 other free apps similar to this on the Play Store that will do what this app does, plus more.

Best name at least one before you negate it. it does what is promises, right ?

I dont know why people have neg'd this deal for based on the permission requirements for the Amazon App. The deal is based on the fact that a paid app is now free, not what Amazon's App permissions were versus what they are now. Mod's should seriously correct this stupid type of behaviour. The choice to allow those app permissions is a seperate issue to the deal being posted and they should not be confused.
