Anyone bought from them before? Their contact details is a bit odd. Address in VIC, phone number is NSW based number.

    • If they ARE in South Melbourne
WHY do they have a NSW 02 phone Number?

      • maybe a voip line

        • Warehouse is in Melbourne.

          Office is in Sydney.

    • That's some interesting usability feedback. Never actually thought it would be confusing but your 100% right.

Our warehouse is in Melbourne and our office in Sydney. I suppose a 1300 would make more sense.

      • Or just prefix your phone number with "Sydney Office:" ?

    Hi Guys,

Just to confirm, we only have a few of these in stock - will probably sell out real soon.

I'm not overly sold on Chromecast personally (each to there own).

It's a bit more of a pain to make region free as the DNS is hardcoded to use google servers 8.8.8.8. Saying that, it's not impossible and there are guides out there.

I only use it to stream Plex and throw youtube to my main TV every now and then.

What I am using at the moment is Amazon Fire TV. It's replaced my apple TV for Netflix & Hulu and has the Plex app but it's still a bit of a novelty.

I don't think there is a definitive media player at the moment, aside from throwing together your own HTPC.

    • UK Chromecasts don't appear to have hard-coded DNS so the AU one might be the same.

      • Oh interesting. Now I regret buying this one.

Ah well just wanted to check it out.

Happy to refund or better yet, play around with it: we have free returns, so if it doesn't work out, just post it back.

        • That's really generous. Thanks

First though, do you know… If I have the DNS unblocked already working in my device (phone and or tablet) and the video is playing already on the device, can I send that video to the Chromecast?

        • For YouTube & Plex no unblocking is required.

For Netflix, Hulu & HBOGo, I believe both device and Chromecast need to be unblocked. The way you do this, is you route the google DNS 8.8.8.8 to your unblocked DNS.

          There's more info here: https://support.unlocator.com/customer/portal/articles/12848…

I don't know what apps will be offered once Google Chromecast officially launches in oz or if there will be an update to remove the hardcoded DNS but chances are you'll still need to do some work around to have the device region free.

  • Sold out.

  • So if i have a smart tv with plex installed on my mac, should i bother about this ?

    • It will work. Personally, I prefer something with a ethernet (or even ethernet over power) connection as the Chromecast is only wireless and can be flaky at times.

      EDIT: Misread the question.

Are you currently using the Plex app on your TV? I've tried it on my LG and it's pretty laggy at times and the interface is pretty horrible.
