    Bah!

"Ebay is asking its users to reset their passwords due to the unauthorized access to our corporate information network. This may result in a delay of service due to the high traffic volume. We ask for your patience and that you return to eBay soon. In the meantime, please be assured that no activity can occur on your account until your password is reset."

    • <edit> Changed now.

Breach was detected 2 weeks ago. Is it only now that eBay is asking users to reset passwords ?
Anyway, I didn't get any such message.

Bought and paid for item via PP. Thanks OP

wow security and audit systems must be first class!

    • Ebay is working now. Nice work, OP.

  • bought, thanks OP. luckily my ebay account allowed me to log in.

  • Cheers, needed a few more.

I was just purchase 3 cables from the same seller about two weeks ago, it works fine until last week, all coming up warning message on the phone.

The refund was very easy though.

Now I just give up with all those cables on eBay, and tempting to purchase the Apple one, any good deals? :)

    • I've had issues with a genuine apple one right out of the box, go figure. I'm not paying $15 for 1 genuine cable.

      • +1

Yeah $15+ really are overpriced for just cable.

So when did you purchased from this seller?

        • it good then, maybe just I'm not luck :)

        • I bought 10 cables on eBay…All dead in 4-8 weeks, have given up now

      • +1

        $15? Thought they were $25?

        Mine have all worked flawlessly.

On the other hand, the shitty ones I got from chineebay either don't work, or don't work consistently.

The little adapter to turn a microusb into a lightning plug are where it's at. Break the cable, just replace it with another one of the twenty four you have lying around the house.

        • Apple certified adapter or generic brand?

    • Did you try turning them around etc? I've had these after market cables, and mine usually say that, but when I pull it out and plug it the other side it works again.

      • Well, depends on luck or not, sometimes it work and otherwise not. Basically I've purchased more than 10 after market cables (not only from this seller), only 2 survived…. :)

    • are you disconnecting the cable from the phone by pulling the cable, this will damage even a genuine cable??

      • +1

I agree. Most of the time, it's the copper wire inside that's broken. Genuine cable breaks too.

  • Incidentally I bought from this seller few days ago and I received them yesterday. So far all 3 are working fine.

    • Does working fine mean that there is no warning message when you plug the cable in?

      • +2

I don't get any compatibility issues, my phone thinks all the cables are 100% genuine.

        • hows the recharge time…

  • -6

no worth the risk of damaging your iphone.

    • -1

actually, they fit just as good as genuine, i know some china ones are really tight, those are the ones to steer clear from.

      • Are those made in?

        • you mean your genuine cables that come in the box, china..

  • -1

I have tried all these man eventually they burn up. I reckons just go with genuine apple cable. But this not bad price.

    • +1

The ones from this seller are different, trust me on this. I've purchased from the other guys..

I purchased these, 10 colourful cables for $8.95
and NO warning message on latest iOS 7.1.1

    http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/301136391790

(Personally, i try to stay away from cables that try to look like the Apple cable as the good and bad ones get mixed up at my place)

    • maybe it would occur again for ios 8

Apple has a habit of banning non genuine products…

my last non genuine lightning cable stop working, and i noticed a black hole on the plug,

      • -1

I agree tyler. Anyone buying a non genuine product can only assume it will work for the current iOS release. I guess working with iOS 7.1.1 is a little better than getting a warning. But how long it will last is anyones guess. However for $9 for 10 cables, is worth the punt.

    • Interestingly, it looks like this seller sells the same cables at double the price (5 for $9.95)
      http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/10-colour-USB-Data-Lightning-comp…

      • these are the cables to steer clear from..

  • removed.

Make sure you get your 20 Velocity points!

    http://estore.velocityfrequentflyer.com/department-stores/eb…

    • Never knew about that.

      • It comes and goes, usually it's 2 points per $1.

There are no cashback sites for ebay (that i know of). So it makes sense if you're using ebay for something anyway

  • I have worked in the mobile accessories industry for many years and I can confirm, "Apple now requires all third party cables and accessories that use the iPad or iPhone’s lightning port to have a chip inside that verifies them as being Apple approved." when Apple do updates, it make all manufactures products that have not paid Apple royalties useless.

I am not saying that these guys have not paid the royalties, but I can tell you the chip costs more than they are selling the cable for, so they are losing money or have not paid the royalties.

    • Can't imagine that Apple send out new chips to all parties who do pay royalties with each update though, so if the cable worked with iOS 7, it will work until Apple change the chip. Which would then mean all Apple products and licensed products would also stop working.

    • need independent verification

  • The last iOS7 update I did for my phone is the final update I will ever so this will ensure these cables will continue to work. It might work with the next update, who knows.

  • bought some not expecting them to work more than a few months… will buy a another genuine apple one after that.

  • just bought mine :) hope to see them work as you said.

  • Wondering works for Ipad Air?

    • I'd also be interested to know if anyone has tried these cables with iPad Air.

    • +2

      "Wondering works for Ipad Air?"

Doesn't iPad Air use the cable with the lightning connector and the same iOS as iPhones? Surely it must work the same as it works on iPhones or other iPads.

Any difference between these ones and the others available 3 for $0.99?

    • I think you will find the cheaper ones will show up the warning message, but will probably charge. Quality and life will be unknown.

  • mine just showed up.
all three seem to be faulty, it keeps flashing charging, then non charging, then charging. on and off. but doesn't charge.

At the moment i am testing with a usb hub from my computer. ( which works perfectly with the oem cable)
I will need to find a wall plug to test.

    • I couldn't find a wall plug ( gf prob took it)
but i tested it by plugging direct into the usb port of my mb air. and it works.

no idea why a different "fake" iPhone cable works in the hub and oem cables work in the hub . but this one doesn't~

      • might be your usb hub, try it direct to the pc or a car charger or a actual wall charger.

  • +1

Just received mine and they work fine with iPhone 5s
