Is this a bargain, or more crap software?

Have you actually tried it or read some reviews ???

Put something useful in the description to justify why you are posting this.

    • Iobit made 'Game Booster', a software program that minimized background processes when you launched a game. This proved to be quite popular, as Razer went on to buy it. This appears to be another form of the same program.

Info might not be 100% correct but that's sort of how it goes.

So you've negged this based on knowing nothing about the application and just as much about the price? Nice going. Current price is $19.99 3 licences but you can find deals like this regularly. Decent software in my experience and regularly gets good reviews.

I wouldn't really recommend getting this. It floods your computer with shit, even if you actively try to avoid it.

If you want better alternatives to what this apparently "fixes":

      • Malwarebytes 2.0 + Avast Free: One of the best free AV combos you can go for.

      • CCleaner + Defraggler: If your computer is getting a bit sluggish, try these. Occasionally, you should run the inbuilt Windows Cleanup (as Administrator) in order to clean up Windows Update files. Also with CCleaner, do some general cleaning on your programs and start looking at lighter alternatives. e.g. SumatraPDF is a much better alternative to the clunky Adobe Reader. While you're at it, disable unnecessary startup programs and you'll see faster boot times (well it's probably negligible if you're using an SSD).

P.S. Don't defragment if you're using an SSD, just 'optimise' it. Defragging is great if you're using an old HDD

      • Foxit reader for pdfs

    • Hasn't flooded any of ours. Been using it for years. Some excellent tools if you know what you're doing.

I used to have this for about 2 years. Only recently, I had to remove it as my Pro licence expired. Guess what. My computer runs better without.

So my advice is let the O/S manage the resources for you. It knows what it's doing ;)

    • So how did you measure that precisely? Grain of salt stuff. Best of luck leaving any OS to manage your PC. Most people have no idea on the amount of shyte stored by browsers alone.

This program hijacked my browser. Avoid!

Negged because it's IOBit; they have a history of bundling spyware/crapware with their software and stealing from other developers on multiple occasions.

Definitely not the kind of developer whose software you should be installing.

They really should be banned from OB.

    • Thanks for the link Amar. Will read more. I can say with 100% certainty that the vast majority of Ozbargainers regularly deal with companies whose business practices are shyte one way or another. Still handy to know.

I had this (paid for pro version) on my computer a good while back and it filled it with shit and its constantly trying to get you to buy other modules. I can't UNrecommend this enough.

  • +1

avoid this pile of shit. had it running on my server for quite a few months as the license was free.

it even installs bullshit programs months after installation as part of an 'update'

this program is opposite to what system care means

  • Has saved my homepage from being hijacked numerous times. Thanks for the tip!

  • I run ASC on all our laptops, have for years. Like any software be alert when you download and install it and learn how to set it up and use the bits you want. They've been responsive to every request I've made. I wasn't aware of the ethical stuff though so thanks Amar.

Why are people still recommending this crap?????
FFS I get a comment unpublished because I try to vote down so more unsuspecting users don't load this rubbish on there computers…. Go figure…

    • Probably because it gets good reviews from people who know what they're talking about. Go figure.

        like who?

        • I'm not your wet nurse, try google.

        • +1

Stick ur crap software mate while I get paid to remove it.

        • For anyone stupid enough to pay you to do a simple job which takes a few minutes at most I recommend Iobit Uninstaller or any one of many other free trace cleaners.

  • lets have a look at what iobit suggests we install to "fix" our computer…
    by installing more crap…
Even sneaking on your android device.

It's a free world so do what you want.

    • Yeah they plug their paid versions mercilessly if you use the free version. One click and it's gone. Small price to pay for what is still good software - the free version of ASC that is. I guess if you're gullible or not "digitally aware" you might get stung.

  • many other alternatives and this is a junk

    • No this is software with a range of applications to keep your computer relatively clean and efficient. A junk is a chinese sailing boat.

  • Guys, I am having an extremely serious family matter regarding this effing software.

My dad and my elderly Grandpa live in the same house up the road from mine, when my father returns from his work overseas. Last year they both bought new Dell Computers, I helped my Grandpa who is particularly stingy with money purchase a pre-built desktop rig (yes I should have built one). I made a note of how quick the thing took to load up.

Anyway, my father also bought a new dell laptop and I made note of how speedy that was.

Whilst he was overseas, grandpa began complaining to me about how his computer was slowing down and taking longer to load up and so on. I went over the things on there, the only thing I had installed on there was Steam and one game through that. However I noticed "advanced system care" was on there and sent an email to dad about the things installed on there.

Recently when dad returned I noticed his comptuer had slowdown to boot. And that he had it on there too. He tried to install it on my mum's laptop to "fix" a problem with the power cable and I googled the software and realized how terrible was. He just went nuts and tried throwing it off the balcony. I've tried explaining it to him through forums and the Malewarebytes forum comments (since he also uses that reliable program), but the guy is a complete lunatic and refuses to listen to logic and reason since he would have been "paying money to scam artists for years".

A month later, grandpa's Windows 7 is completely effed and the OS is now having trouble booting up at all. I've tried explaining this to my father but he arranged for a Dell specialist to come look at it for "hardware" failure this week (who has yet to arrive).

Give me your wise council please guys!!! (Yeah I know I need new parents)

    • It is, particularly degrading to me for my biological father to consider his arrogant pride and scam snake oil software to mean more to him than his own son.
