It says $45.50 value, but I'd just about value the entire thing at $22. Would anybody be stupid enough to actually pay a regular price of $45.50 for that?

Regular price of $2.50 for a dollop of cream? $5.50 for a single scoop of ice cream which looks like it's only a little bit bigger than a the Lindor ball next to it? And $7 hot chocolates. Wow. I wouldn't call this a bargain in terms of value, but it's a 'deal' if you consider that it's usually ridiculously overpriced but this brings it down to a believable cost.

People have taken me to the Lindt store a few times and I was always amazed at how average everything tasted, and the half-hour or more wait was stupid. It's very over-hyped. There are many local cafes that make their own brownies, roast their own coffee beans, make fantastic hot chocolates and their regular price for a set similar to this would be about $22, and it'll taste better than the Lindt store.

Whilst I agree with your sentiments, I think you'd be hard pressed to find a local cafe that'll make hot chocolate out of real shaved chocolate instead of just powdered crap.

I do agree Lindt is overhyped…I prefer Shocolat in Fitzroy or Koko Black. But don't expect any $5 hot chocolate there either…

It would be nice to see the list of these cafes…
Seriously. I believe Lindt is overpriced. So I would love to see alternatives.

      • I live in Sydney, and there are many small cafes in Kings Cross, Paddington, Bondi Junction that offer something similar to this, for a similar price. I don't know the names, I just visit them occasionally. Even Max Brenner is a bit cheaper than Lindt (though not by much), and it's rather pricey. They use real chcolate for their hot chocolates, and have a large variety of flavours. I find their desserts and hot chocolates have more flavour than Lindt.

Everybody's different though, so if they love Lindt personally and are happy to wait half an hour to be served, this is a good deal. I just wanted to point out that it's still pricey, so people wouldn't fall into the 'OMG, those $200 shoes have been reduced to only $50!!' only to find the shoes are sold elsewhere for $20 trap.

I'm actually considering getting this deal myself, simply because the Vivid festival is on, and my wife's friends like Lindt. I can send them off to wait in the queue while I walk around taking photos. But knowing my luck she and her friends will decide she doesn't want dessert that particular night so I'll be stuck trying to eat it all myself, or just not using the voucher. It's happened before.

  • We've been 2-3 times with this offer, the first time it was good but after that it was meh. Not really worth it IMO.
