I would buy some stuff (1-2) if only there was free shipping
Not buying 10 items & paying $10 shipping

    • thats a bit harsh, there is free shipping on a some of the items. like the HDMI cable.

    • Agree, if free shipping it would seem better.

  • hey could you please check the link. you have put www.catchoftheday.com. this is an AU site.

just bought Super 7 Piece Craft Lite Precision Cutter!!!
New Model - Just Arrived! Backlit Guide, 6 Cutting Heads

these usually retail in spotlight for $30+

    so preety good bargains there

    • thanks, fixed, usually i just copy it in but typed it today…
vote me + then to negate that other unfairish negative!

      • Why was the other comments "unfarish" in the negative? Not every one here loves COTD.

        • there are some deals with free shipping.

  • +2

Garage Sale - Day 2. Mostly same things - gets a bit boring!

    • yeah tell me about it, but i did like that DVI cable which was the only real reason i posted it. i even gave you +1 cause its probably true… still there are a few good bargains there, even if it is same old stuff!

I swear COTD needs there own section on oz bargains!

HEY MODS, there should be a daily deals section for these places:
      like:
      oo.com.au daily slam dunk
top buys steal of the day
city softwares mega deal of the day
9812 or whatever deal of the week
dailygizmo - (who never has anything thats cheaper than anything on static ice)
      www.zazz.com.au
      etc….

that updates automatically each day so people don't need to post each deal as its posted.

people should still be able to vote on those deals and once it hits ten it comes to this main deals site…

      thats a pretty good idea…

      • +1

That's what http://dealdump.com.au/ is for. It covers a few "daily deals" type sites.
Much better then people posting every bit of crud (original posters own wording) they see.

        • I do tend to agree. (hence the +1) lots of people do post them when they have same old same old, but still no denying that there are some pretty good prices there.

DAMN, I LOVE THAT dealsdump site, thats awesome! added to favorites

          • @wisc: "I LOVE THAT dealsdump site, thats awesome! added to favorites", good, it may stop crud COTD items being posted here as alleged bargains.

  • +2

Buy if you will, but my friends and I have stopped buying from COTD due to the poor after sales service and the low quality of their goods for sale…

We have shifted to buying from Hong Kong based sellers for electronic/PC type products…much cheaper and free postage too..even though they ship from Hong Kong it's usually faster delivery than COTD!

    • Your comments seem "right on".

    • yeah i posted this deal and do tend to agree to some degree… still LOTS OF CHEAP STUFF!

      • But is the stuff really that cheap once postage is included, virtually no claimable warranty on items only costing a few dollars (unless you like to spend more then the item costs in packaging it and posting it back in a better condition what COTD actually posts their items in (which is not very good packaging))?

Maybe if a purchaser is housebound or lives in woop woop with no retailers near by then some of the items may seem reasonable, otherwise buy the stuff easier, quicker and most probably cheaper at a local variety store.

Doesn't COTD have anything good to actually sell at a BARGAIN price?

        • I've seen a few good things, my dad got a Philip's 20" monitor delivered cheaper than he could from anywhere else…

The items they have here are typically trash and treasure/2 dollar shop type items. but you do occasionally get the diamond in the rocks, hence the post.

          • @wisc: So where is the "diamond in the rock" here today?

          • @wisc: "my dad got a Philip’s 20” monitor delivered cheaper than he could from anywhere else"
I yet to see COTD offer a better monitor that even matched the price I paid for mine (wasn't a Phillips).
Of cause I never paid postage and used it the same day I brought it (no waiting for who knows how long before COTD staff decided to dispatch their products) (which also come in lousy packaging).

            • @Zero Sydney: man you are one angry man/woman…

yeah i agree postage takes WAY to long. quicker sometimes to get stuff shipped from OS.
              HDMI cable is ok today.

rack mentioned the "Super 7 Piece Craft Lite Precision Cutter"

the cotton queen sheet for 7 bux is pretty good.
triple car socket(+usb) for 7.95 os decent.
              30 pack of cdr is 8.95 doesn't seem bad….
              caller id for 4 bux
notepad cooling fan for 10 bux is alright.
although i havent checked other sites for these items.

if your gonna buy a few items and get to the 10 dollar limit after that the items are cheap…

              • @wisc: "ok today" isn't a diamond, nor a bargain.
Doesn't sound too convincing to me that you even think its a bargain ypurself only saying its OK.

                • @Zero Sydney: yeah pretty true, not a diamond, but I think still a bargain which is why i originally posted.

              • @wisc: "rack mentioned the “Super 7 Piece Craft Lite Precision Cutter”:
                http://www.catchoftheday.com.au/smallfish_info.php?products_…
                is $9.95 + $8.95 P&H.
So if the retail price is actually $30 (and who actually pays SRP/RRP for retail items anyway) I don't think saving $11 with really no usable warranty (and the way COTD packages things something could break prior to the purchaser getting to use it) is a bargain. I don't even think its a saving as Spotlight often have 20% off and more so could potentially be brought cheaper elsewhere (I'll go so as far as to say it CAN be brought cheaper elsewhere, I'll look for the item another day in store).

COTD just doesn't offer bargains as far as I am concerned.

                • @Zero Sydney: yeah but that doesn't take the 10 dollar shipping cap into account, buy more items then the savings are greater.

the whole idea of the cap is that its more of a bargain if you buy more.

          • @wisc: I've still yet to find the diamond at COTD today, which item today makes the phrase true?

    • what hong kong based sellers. i buy from overseas seller to but none offer free postage

      • DealExtreme.com for example.

        • Thanks..didn't want to name DX in my earlier post just in case I was accused of being connected in some way…seems Ozbargains has become a haven for self promotion of late…

Don't get me wrong, I don't mind sellers using this site ….. that is if they are promoting REAL bargains….

            • @M27: damn now that its off the main voting screen (due to having more negatives)people aren't going to see all the negative things people think!

someone needs to remove there neg (or vote pos) so people can see all the comments!

lol, my first bombed out post.

              • @wisc: Seem this was your post, I don't think there is a need to have more postivie votes just so people can see it in the "main voting screen", just so they can see the negative comments, there are other ways to see this post.

So why post it if you think there a crap and crud offerings?

          • @liparj: Yes there are self promoted items here by members who don't declare themselves to be a representative of a seller, but I don't think anybody would accuse you of working for or owning DealExtreme.

          • @liparj: Most (all?) COTD things AREN'T bargains.

    • Potential customers of COTD have to remember how COTD treat their customers, BADLY.
If they send the wrong product they don't wish for you to send it back as it costs them money (they told me this when they did that to me, that was their excuse, they made the mistake (they admitted that eventually) but as it would cost them money to fix their problem they didn't want to), they make a mistake and expect you to keep and PAY extra for the wrong item! COTD service is well CRUD.

Search Ozbaragin for other peoples complaints about COTD, not hard to find.

  • Crud seems about right.
People can't see the COTD website for themselves?

  • And id say getting close to one of the last COTD posts on oz bargains cause of the negativity! LOL… wheres the COTD rep when you want them.. no where to be found… TYPICAL! :P LOL.

as a side note i once ordered a SD TV from them, never arrived, ended up getting a refund after a bit of a run around. so not overly impressed with the service, they where always polite, but lied a couple of times about the item being shipped when it obviously hadn't, since that time ive bought a couple of items, and yeah delivery can be a little slower than others, but it gets there in the end.

for the prices they offer they do the job…

you get what you pay for i guess.

    • +1

      QQQ is on holidays.

And why do people vote negative for COTD? Surely its not because they think it is a bargain and decide just for the fun of it to vote negative? So there are reasons they get negative votes, you have provided some reasons yourself.

So they lied to you and you think I am "one angry man/woman…"? You are worst then me, I was buying mostly for others, I knew the stuff wasn't good value yet you promote a company that lies to you?
"but lied a couple of times about the item being shipped when it obviously hadn’t", so you think COTD is a good company?
"after a bit of a run around", so you think COTD is a good company?
"not overly impressed with the service", again do you think COTD is a good company?

QQQ has stated they have improved and I think he said items should be delivered within 5 days (more like 5 days after they finally dispatch it (as it can sit there for weeks without being dispatched), shame some people aren't getting their items in the time frame he claims should occur.

      • not really, i think they are a cheap company, and am prepared to do a run around to save 10-20 bux on a small item.
guess it depends what each person wants to do.
you can see from my language in my OP that I'm fairly indifferent.

im here for a bargain, and to some people that means the service must not drop, and to others it means cheap prices only… im mixed between the two where i'm prepared to do a bit of leg work and take a chance.

the comments section is for exactly this… its a buyer beware market.

    • +1

Why post what you know to be "crud"/"a lot of crap" (your words)?

Why promote a company that isn't good?

    • +1

"And id say getting close to one of the last COTD posts on oz bargains cause of the negativity!", that would be good considering how many posts there are for COTD that aren't bargains, hence why keep posting non bargains.

      • because i think people do classify them as bargains, cheapest i could find a 1.8/2m cable in AU was 20 bux landed the one on COTD was ten.

i'm telling you once you wade though the cheap crap there are bargains to be had like those listed above.

fair enough if you don't want to compromise on quality. different folks different strokes.

        • +1

Some places sell HDMI to DVI cables very cheap.

I guess if you need to get them delivered then to you COTD may seem OK (why not use a shop or buy from somewhere cheaper?), but even going by what you have said about COTD today, why even buy from them?
Not posting something and saying it has isn't just bad service, that's NO service and lying by them.

  • nice dealsExtreme site by the way, r4 for 6.74 bux.. bargain!

oh and a 5meter cable DVI to HDMI for 13.56

    cheaper 1.8 meter cable… only 8.12!

    • Yes they do sell CHEAP stuff (not in the bad meaning either). DealExtreme do use padding for even the cheapest item, COTD don't even for way more expensive items (not the ones I have brought) and charge so much more the item and also so much more for the P&H (yet they use LESS packaging and can take way longer to deliver then DealExtreme). Yep Wisc keep promoting COTD so people can be ripped off and pay more.

      • you are seriously one angry dude.

dealsextream is awesome, i'm never gonna need to go to a swapmeet again!

I thought there where a few cheap products on COTD! COTD is still better than most bricks and mortar stores anyhow… if you can wait for the shipping, order a few more small items from them with no problems.

  • aww that site is in USD :( ohh well still not TOOOOOOOO bad…
