Perisher Freedom Flexi Pass - Any 3 Days for $299, Plus Buy Extra at $99/Day

60

Just getting to my e-mails and noticed this pretty good deal for Perhiser - ANY 3 days for $299, plus you can buy extra days for $99.

They haven't even released their single day pricing yet, but certinally it will be more then $99 per day - more like $118 per day in-resort, potentially cheaper if you buy it online, eg 2 days pricing is $236 in resort, or $208 if bought online 7 days in advance. (usually the 2 day rate is just double the single day rate, but who knows)

People to best benefit from this would be weekend warriors who would make several trips over the season. Best value per day is actually the 5-in-7, but depends if you can take a week off for that. Also, this would be good when/IF they get a dump of snow, and you decided on a quick trip, you wouldn't be able to save anything on the regular online ticket because it would be within 7 days.

For comparison, regular 1 day Thredbo ticket is $110 in-resort, or $99 if bought 7 days in advance.

Bonus for previous Freedom Pass season holders - (from e-mail, this is not on website link). If you had a pass before, then buy this now, they will load $50 Perisher dollars on your card to spend in resort, eg food, rentals, or lessons. See list of places that accept Perisher Money here Have to purchase by 19 June for this bonus.

This pass will be available after 19 June, but more expensive @ $329 online, or $349 in resort (and no bonus)

Hope useful to some.

Happy winter!!! (Don't look at the snow cams yet, and if you've bought tickets to opening weekend - erm, good luck, hope the entertainment is good, cause don't know if there will be much skiing to be had!!)

Not bad, not that great(imo) Still I'd recommend for those who would only spend a few days or a bit more a year, (Snowboarding/skiing) on the Snow to go to Japan! Hakuba is Cheap! (No Vehicle Cost to enter Mountain + Quite a few Hotels give Discount on Lift Pass + Cheaper Hire + Cheaper Lift Tickets (Half price.. and better snow) + Easy to Travel to.. you can walk to the Lifts in 20 mins from Hakuba Train station.. 0.0) + Experience of Travel and seeing real.. snow.

and the Snow… there is so~ much better!! If you go in Jan/Feb for a week it is basically 100% that it will Snow at least a couple of days.

I'm still suprized.. at the price they charge for everything in Australia… For a Local who has his/her own gear its ok.. but for a Family/Couple.. for a Holiday for a week or less your better off going to Japan. Just my 2 cents.

I've never met anyone who has been to Hakuba to be disappointed, on the other hand In VIC/NSW.. Its hit and miss.

    • Agree, sort of. Japan is good; the snow is excellent and the culture, food etc. But, it's not cheaper. Neither is NZ. For a couple or a pair of couples, staying on snow (ski in/ski out), renting all their gear in resort, flying from Syd to Cooma then taxi to the mountain, possibly it might be cheaper to go to JPN.

But for a couple or a family with a kid to drive, rent gear from Cooma, stay at the Jindy sport n rec centre or the caravan park for about 40 bucks a night/person, buy breakfast and lunch from woolies and get dinner from the pub or pizza place, how is Japan cheaper?

Don't get me wrong, I love Japan and have done two ski trips there myself, it's just not cheaper.

      • I have found it to be cheaper, In Japan at least comparing the Nagano area, and the best mountains there Hakuba! Nozawa.. ect..) In Japan can also eat cheap food (Local supermarket/convenience store and (and find cheap accommodation (rooms for $40 and under which you could walk to the ski lifts if you wanted too.)

Though! Its just the Airfare to Japan that will cost you more Money. So any trip will most likely will be more. Depending how long you stay.. But for the Number of Powder days you will get.. Its always worth it the travel(imo) You even get free entry to a Onsen.. and after a Day snowboarding.. is amazing.

Plus there are heaps less well-know mountains around Nagano. (And the lift tickets can set you back $30 per Adult)

Well a 3 Day lift ticket for one adult at Nozawa, will set you back $117 AU. (with no discount)
And a 3 Day lift Ticket at Hakuba Happo-one will set you back $132 (with no discount)
But with a discount it gets cheaper..

Though this wouldn't be the case with most people, I was amazed at how little it could cost to snowboard in Hakuba for a day for me and my girlfriend.

Me and my girlfriend spent the day at Hakuba Happo one year. And the Cost was $140 for everything included. (Around $30 a day lift tickets) Though it was Spring! prices (And we staying in Nagano at her house) being the start of March. The Snow wasn't as Amazing as Jan/Feb but It still was great, and it was still snowing.. a couple days before but not on the day we went.

That was Lift tickets,Hire,Food. Excluding the the one and a half hour train ride, but taking a local train the train tickets are cheap and 20mins walk from the station to the Ski-lifts.

Right about a day or two/three in Australia is cheaper and will always be, the main reason is because of the Airfares… Its not cheap to fly. (If you are lucky might be able to find $700 Return to Japan) But if you live a long!! distance from a decent Snow resort in Australia and have to fly there then the price might be similar.

  • Sorry about the double post.. but I still recommended people to travel to a country which has better Snow! (For those people that only make a snow travel once every year or two or have a bit of money) For just a Holiday.. its worth it as long as you don't mind and can handle traveling around a different country and can afford it.

We should face it Australia doesn't have great NATURAL snow.. ( That's why we pay a price… for them to make snow with machines.. We have to pay $40.. to enter the mountain.. and $100 for ski lift yet in Japan its average $50 for both.. and we have a similar wage and standard of living) the Snow fall on average is 3/4 meters compare to resorts in Japan which are 12/15 meters.

After I visited Japan and went Snowboarding I was amazed at the quality of it, the whole experience.

Just I hope I wrote some information that was helpful to some people.
