MacX DVD Ripper Pro FREE (Save $59.95) for Both MacOS X and Windows (OzBargain Exclusive)

362

Digiarty Software / MACXDVD contacted me a few days ago about giving OzBargainers free license of MacX DVD Ripper Pro. So there you go, an exclusive offer with the OzBargain logo right there. You get

  • MacX DVD Ripper Pro for free (was USD $59.95)
  • MacX Video Converter Pro 40% off

Here's the little blurb about this promotion:

It brings you the best solution to rip any DVD to MP4, H.264, MOV, FLV, MPEG, M4V, AVI, QT etc. Rip all encrypted DVDs to Mac, iPhone, iPad, Android. (Deal ends on June 4. No Free Upgrade.)

Click on the Get License Code to get the key to unlock the full version. From past giveaways MacX DVD usually either give out DVD Ripper Pro for free, or give out Video Converter Pro for free (through exclusive promotions via different websites, usually every month or two).

How does it compare with free/open source equivalents such as Handbrake?

  • Is it full of adware or malware?

Just wondering how they ever make any money considering every month they are giving their software away for free.

    • I think those don't come with updates, whereas if you buy their paid version there would be some support and updates. With DVD and Blu-Ray constantly coming up with new copy protections they are hoping some might eventually pay for the full version.

It comes with adware that nags you to buy the full version everyday after a month or so when you run it…

  • I've used the older version for a while (3.XX i think?), and it was generally quite reliable.
This new version looks quite different…hopefully it's still stable.

  • Thanks Mr.Scotty

    Nice One and Nice Post.

Here's an exclusive around the other way, if you'd prefer 100% saving on Video Converter:

But personally I'd stick to handbrake :-)

    • That license code has expired, just tried it.

To be honest it's not any better than handbrake apart from having an inbuilt DVD decrypter.

Having said that, you can just download the free DVD decrypter along side the open source Handbrake without dealing with all the ad-ware MacXDVDRipperPro provides.

Besides, if you care about quality you wouldn't be using these all-in-one tools as a method to backup your DVDs.

I'm not sure whether I should neg this post considering their are already free open source alternatives that are not plagued with adware.

    • DVD-Decrypter - Latest version: 3.5.4.0 (March 21, 2005)

It will not be able to decrypt DVDs with new protection schemes.

The above is Windows only - at least MacX supports OSX.

      • vlc + handbrake is all you need :)

These people have more software giveaways than Dick Smith has had 10% off sales lately.

full of adware, avoid this crap

  • Any suggestions for a free non-adware converter please? I want to convert mkv to mp4 or avi to play on PS3 (I have a mac thus can't use the windows media player trick).

  • Maybe just use libavcodec or ffmpeg?

  • Thanks OP, this worked perfectly for my purposes, and just made three wee children very happy! To cut a long story short I'm visiting my nieces/nephews and bought them 3 DVDs of their favourite shows, but it turns out the DVD player is broken/ can't read discs… but it does have a "USB in". So I just ripped the DVDs onto a USB stick, and "hey presto". Nice one, thanks again.
