      What's your point?

    Pro, you even lift?

This is very cheap. Get in before they jack up the price

  • problem is most of us dont know cars more than 2,000kg so 3 times that is overkill

    • +1

jacks have been known to fail..

      • +8

Jack has also been know to fall down and break his crown.

      • That's why its a good idea to use axle stands too.
A jack to lift and axle stands to support the vehicle.

I can tell you now that in this price range a 1400kg trolley jack struggles to lift just the front of 1600kg car. If you don't mind bottle jacks, this is not a bad deal! But get your location spot on or you'll know about it!!!

      • But get your location spot on or you'll know about it!!!

        what do you mean sir?

        • +3

When you're jacking a car up with a trolley jack, the jack will roll with the vehicle as it transfers the weight, whereas the bottle jack is rigid and can tend to lean with the vehicles weight… And fall over!!!
Also there's more pressure exerted by the bottle jack on the jacking point because of its smaller surface area. So make sure you use it under a strong/solid point or part!

    • +1

another thing to consider is the minimum height of the jack - you need to be able to get it to a suitable point underneath the car before you can start jacking …

        before you can start jacking

        hehe

This will come in handy for the Nokia 3310 deal

    • To the contrary, I got the Nokia 3310 to use to jack up my car.

  • Other than jacking my house up for restumping what else could I reslistically use this for?

i don't know how well a 6t bottle jack would do.

i'm about to straighten and jack up my leaning outdoor garage and redo the foundations. i chose to buy a couple of 20t jacks.

      • Pity, it would've made for an interesting story trying to use these things!!! ;)

Seriously thought it said it was a "6000kg bottle of Jack." Could have been bargain of the century. Not that liquor is measured in kg.

  • Is it suitable to jack up (for oil/filter and wheel change) Honda Jazz and Nissan X-Trail?
Would like to buy cheap stands as well.

    • +2

Way more than enough for both. X-Trail kerb weight is 1,400kg.

However, the Jazz's front is too low for this jack, you may be able to use the side and rear jacking points but not the front. If gap between ground and side jacking points are 23cm+, it will work.

      • Thanks, in that case for Oil and Wheel change of X-Trail and Jazz-

For Jazz: SCA Trolley Jack 1400kg $24.99: http://www.supercheapauto.com.au/online-store/products/SCA-T…

For X-Trail: 6000kg Bottle Jack $19.99 from Repco(?)

        and Stands Pin Pair 3000kg $34.99: http://www.supercheapauto.com.au/online-store/products/Car-S…

Any better and cheaper Jack and Stand options available for both X-Trail and Jazz?

        • Also, if you're going to get anything from SCA, you might as well pay the $5 for their club and get the $10 bonus money!

        • +1

On second thought, why not just get the axle stands and use the jacks supplied with the vehicles instead? Takes more time but well worth the saving since you are only doing oil changes once every 6 month or a year.

I ve managed to use factory jacks to service the jazz easily (inc. wheel rotation) . On some vehicle, you might not even need to jack vehicle up for oil change (i ve done Toyota Hilux and Echo), the drain plugs and oil filters are just easily accessible. So get your cardboard box out and go underneath to see where things are before you drop the cash.

        • Scissor Jack from your boot and a pair of stands like the ones you linked.

It takes two, mildly frustrating minutes to jack each side.

    • if youve got the space..for simple work like oil changes, why not consider a drive on ramp? It's much much easier…

      • Because there isn't one on OzB for $19.95!

I just bought a trolley jack @ Supercheap last weekend for $39. (1400kg).
Might buy this too. Just because..
        :)

        • Pity you paid $39. I picked one up a few weeks ago for what seems to be a fairly common special on them!
          http://www.supercheapauto.com.au/online-store/products/SCA-T…
Edit: If you've still got your receipt, buy another one on special and take it back with the more expensive receipt!

        • Apologies, I think I did pay the sale price. Bought it last Sunday and it was on sale.
          :)

  • Is this on sale now

  • seems quite cheap for a 6t bottle jack

  • I've been looking for a tap and die set to go on sale for a while now.

    Thanks OP

rrp of bottle jack is a bit inflated, TDD sell 8 tonne bottle jacks for $23.10 all day everyday

    http://www.tiedownsdirect.com.au/products/8-ton-Bottle-Jack.…

    • May I ask why would you want the extra 2 tonne?

Thanks for the link tho, one more supplier added to my parts list.

      • For trucks.

  • Don't know how many of you bought this but it doesn't fit under any of the cars I own (WRX, Charade, Commodore), I bought it about 6 months ago when it was on sale but they let me exchange it when I bought it back.

May be useful for 4 wheel drives and light commercial vehicles but its not any good for your average car.

  • Don't get under a car supported by a jack.

This jack isn't bad but it's a little short on travel.

    • either supported by axle stands or becomes pancake.
