    It would be a proper good bargain if the discounts were for departments, such as 40% off all cookware or something. But it's 50% off Jaime Oliver-branded items, which is hideously overpriced anyway. Or 50% off on just the David Jones' own brand of clothing. It's obvious they only ever discount the stuff they have giant margins on, so these are hardly ever 'clearances'.
    I dunno maybe someone can find something in there.

          If you had listed a couple of actual bargains that are known, then yes.
          If you read the flyer you linked you would have seen a couple of solid examples.

      Sometimes it is. However, sometimes one needs 240v appliances. So, one has to buy in Australia. Sometimes other things can't be delivered to Australia. Sometimes one has to add the extra costs of a forwarder such as Shipito.

      URban outfitters had them at $30-50 on sale but they just can't be shipped internationally. Still, because of this $70 Levi's don't do it for me. I just get other brand jeans when they are on sale

      The $69 ones are just plain 100% cotton jeans that feel like cardboard. I paid more for the Coolmax versions in HK (same Levis number, but more comfortable fabric), not sure if they sell them here though.

    wow TV prices are bad

    Last September bought a Sony Bravia 42 inch for $730 (Costco)

    In Jan Sony bravia 50 inch came out for $730 (Costco)

    Now this once a year sale at David Jones has the Sony bravia 40 inch for $850 (from $999)

    Have seen elsewhere this will be the norm

    If Aus Dollar headed further down, I suggest people get their new TV quick

    Interesting… You can get neato-xv-21-robotic-vacuum-cleaner at a bargain price from David Jones for $639 while you can get the same for $354 at Amazon :)

    Levis are one brand that is massively overpriced compared to the US. Like with sneakers, Australian retailers have to pay a much higher wholesale cost than US retailers :(

    Levis jeans (501) were $49 at Costco Crossroads. Every time I go there are still some there at that price.
    Why would you pay $20 more for a crappier cut?

      I asked the same thing once and apparently the costco jeans are made with inferior materials compared to the ones you get in DJ and Myer.

      I have not checked for myself though.

      Levi's 501 have a button fly. Levi's 504 have a zipper. In my books, that makes 504 superior. Of course, it all comes down to personal preference (some people may be scared by a zip for obvious reasons!).

    Just purchased myself a brand new bed from DJs which is currently 45% off. Went to myers and they said they can beat that and offered 47% off + myer one points which will equate to a $100 voucher I can use straight on the bed. Went back to DJs and they matched myers deal.
