The ipega controller from the earlier posted deal seemed a bit small for my hands so I looked around to see what else is out there and found that ipega also has another model in the shape/size of the xbox 360 controller.

In the title it says "for Rooted Android 4.0 Above or Jail - broken iOS 5.11 - 7.06 System", though I don't see any sellers on eBay or AliExpress mentioning that as a requirement, but just keep that in mind.

Shipping to Australia is listed as being 5 – 11 business days.

    Can understand why the Android device requires root to operate this controller ?

      You don't need Root access to use any bluetooth controller.

      I use a wired Xbox 360 pad with my ASUS MemoPad FHD tablet, running it on stock firmware with no mods. For wired controllers, you just need OTG. For bluetooth controllers, its down to whether or not your device will recognize the device as a joypad, some older phones or tablets may not recognize it and will require some tweaking with bluetooth input drivers.

      From what I've been able to find out it will work without root for games which have built-in controller support.

      For games without controller support you need to install some key-mapping software, but you can't run the software without root.

      There is some discussion about it here
