    • so getting a 3g tablet is okay
but getting a 3g tablet that can call as well becomes a different story?

you go right ahead and hold that 7" thing up to your head
i bet every single person who negged me wouldnt buy it and use it every day as a mobile phone as well as a tablet.

i know from experiance from useing a 6.1" phoablet that there too damn big the 6.1" was large enough and barely fit on my loose fitting pants

but if it makes you people feel better neg this too you seem to get off on that type of thing.

        • I think the negs are more to do with your comment not really having any point to it.

Samsung is also releasing a Galaxy W in Korea, which is a 7" phone.

And if Samsung is right, 7" 'phablets' will catch on and become the new trend in mobiles. Look at this gentleman..

Well you know what? Apparently owning a large 7" device as your main phone scores you chicks. Not just one, but TWO. I'm sold and I'm buying one.

    • The really screwed the marketing pooch there! They also have a 3.7" Galaxy W

looks like large phones have come full circle, first people made fun, Steve Jobs made predictions about large screen phones never selling, etc now it's becoming popular, will this be the next hot thing http://i59.tinypic.com/ejinuu.jpg ?
ps sorry but my size limit is dictated by my wardrobe, if it don't fit my pants i'm not buying it!

I had the THL W300 6.5" and it only just fit in all my pants, but I'm a pretty big guy.

I think a lot people want to read web pages and books easily with their phone, so some sort of happy medium needs to be there for that. I think around 5.7" is looking promising for my next phone.

  • Little dual-core processor and the 1Gb of RAM might be starting to struggle I'd say. Can't say as I haven't used one though.

It does stand out for being able to make calls and the price is decent for reputable manufacturer. I'd still be hunting for a 6.5-7" chinese phone with higher specs, they love making massive phones.

this intel chip is actually quite powerful and energy efficient.

      • I figured it'd be low spec for power reasons, combined with 4270mah battery it might do the quoted 9 hours.

Any examples of decent phones using this SoC? I can only find ones I haven't heard much about here

        • All the Asus Zenfones (4 5 6) will run Intel chips.

There are a bunch of tabs running Intel CPU's out there too.

MemoPad FHD 10.1 inch (featured on Graysonline few days ago, and on Good Guys)
          Samsung Galaxy Tab 3
Pretty much every other tablet that ships with Windows.

The CPU is pretty efficient, Hyperthreading means dual cores can do 4 threads, and apparently the new 4-watt Atom Z3770 is said to be on par with the 15watt AMD Kabini A4-5000 found on laptops and the XBone / Ps4.

    • This particular model has a Single Core CPU with 2 threads.

      http://ark.intel.com/products/70814/Intel-Atom-Processor-Z24…

This review on the Motorola RAZR i (which has a very similar CPU) shows that the performance is way below that of a Dual Core Galaxy S3 4G which was release in Mid 2012.

      http://blog.gsmarena.com/we-benchmark-the-motorola-razr-i-an…

  • I am usind a Xperia Z Ultra and would say that even that is a bit to big. I would never get a bigger device, especially since the frame seemse to be pretty thick

  • I always intrigued by the fonepad, interesting device if anything. Techradar Review.

    Things to note

    • there is a rear camera for this one.

    • There are different versions of the FonePad. There's a brand new version (FE375CG) with dual sim support, 64 bit processor and improved GPU. obviously you can't buy this in Australia yet.

Lucky i still have jeans from the 90s which the tablet will fit in.

I bought this phone 16G in China a year ago for around $300 to find out all (most) phones sold in China don't have google services and google store, and this particular phone can't be rooted, so fellow ozBargainer, next time your buy an Android phone from China, make sure it has google services on it.
