    +1'd for the description

you'll go from shooting people in the balls to the head in no time

Though the significance of that improvement depends on which head you're talking about…

  • +11

    Those women are hookers?
My brother told me they were raising money for stem cells…

    XD

    • Is Leonard Hofstadter from The Big Bang Theory your brother? :)

  • Nice find! Brought it… not sure its going to work but hey worth a try i guess!

  • -3

    now its $9

    • plus $5 shipping. Thus $14.

  • +3

Well this device got more 1 star rating than any other rating on Amazon.. Apparently any Android OS after 4.1 will not work.

    • +1

If true, that's just terrible. I've always played GTA on my phone using my DS3 controller using the sixaxis controller app. I'm sure Sony's controllers are of a higher quality than these.

However there is one thing they can improve on; needing root. If this controller doesn't need the android device to be rooted to work, that's a plus.

  • thnx it will hopefully work with my smart tv

  • Does it come with someone to hold up my phone for me while both my hands are on the controller?

    • +16

      Wife not included.

    • +2

No one holds my phone while both of my hands are on my 'controller'

      • while both of my hands are on my 'controller'

what?? you use both hands with your 'controller' !!

        • +1

I don't even wanna know what that 'controller' is.

        • +1

This is headed in a bad direction, please stahp!

    • It comes with a fold out stand for your phone, phablet or tablet…

      • -2

That means it has to sit on the desk, which is not the position I normally hold my phone at. I think there is limited use for this product. Could work for tablets though, but most tablet games are already designed with touch screen controls in mind.

    No shining reviews on Amazon

  • +3

You had me at shooting people in the balls.

    • +1

Now shooting people in the balls on purpose

      • With deadly accuracy. (Castrating someone so they can no longer inseminate is kind of like killing a generation right?)

  • +1

Just got a nexus 7 so this will be good for GTA SA.

    Thanks OP

  • Timing. Just got my Nvidia Shield delivered from the states on Thursday and was about to order this controller from Amazon because it has official support from Nvidia.

    Thanks!

Now I just need to get my USB -> Ethernet Gigabit adaptor for 1080p steaming to the lounge in console mode.

    • Doesn't the Shield have a controller built in?

      • +1

Yes, but I also want to use it in "console" mode plugged into the TV with HDMI out and a Bluetooth controller to sit back on the couch.

I've tried it already and streams really well so that's how I plan to do game streaming from my PC in the study.

I've only had the shield a couple of days, but I've found it's good at a whole bunch more than just a gaming device.

        • Sounds interesting.

        • Couldn't you just have used a wireless hdmi (ie. miracast) and a wireless controller? It would've been alot cheaper :/

        • +1

miracast is laggy compared to connecting directly.

Sixaxis + HDMI out works the same for most people.
And limelight is an open source version of NVidia Shield streaming for any android device.

So the only reason most people should buy a Shield is for the form factor.

        • I've not had a lot of luck with wireless HDMI in the past. I do have Ethernet running to the TV however so this was my solution.

Plus I figure the shield works as a great emulation device and plays android games well.

Don't mind me, just justifying my purchase to myself. :)

  • Jesus, just got the delivery confirmation e-mail & the predicted delivery date for the order is 24-27/6/2014 (Inner city, Sydney) ?

    • I got Estimated delivery date 19/06/2014 to 23/06/2014 for Adelaide metro.

Thanks - I'm going to hold out for a cheap wifi/bluetooth wireless version though to use with my Mk808 mini pc and Super Mario Bros on the SNES emulator :-)

    • +1

Umm, this IS a bluetooth (and therefore) wireless one…?

    • +1

The Mk808 Android stick (don't call it a mini PC) doesn't have bluetooth and a wifi based gamepad doesn't exist. You can get a bluetooth adaptor but it's a finicky install depending on what ROM you are running.

You are most likely going to have to get a standard RF based gamepad with USB into the mk808 if you want wireless. Wired USB controllers should work fine with it right out of the box though.

  • I wonder if it will work for wp8, I'm going to get one just to try.

    • It will work as a keyboard in Icade mode (for iOS), so it should work fine for WP8.

  • need 4.1 or lower

  • hmm I want one but possible firmware/bluetooth issues…. hmmm are we able to return/refund instore if they don't work as stated?

  • Does it work on nexus 5 with Andriod KitKat?

  • For Sony Xperia z2 owners you can use a ps3 controller which can be connected without rooting. I was about to buy this then found that out.

  • Thanks Op got one.

  • There's a fix for android 4.1+ if you're rooted:

  • Thanks Toad.

Works with PC if setup right - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W2UTjlC8ESk

Search on the play store shows am update for android 4.3.

The description doesn't sound right bit can someone confirm it will work

  • Does anyone know if this will work with Windows Phone 8?

  • OK, just a quick product review:

My gamepad was dead on arrival & broken. The battery wont charge at all, the micro-usb port in the controller wasn't fitted properly and had to be adjusted manually just to even connect. The micro-USB dongle that came with the device was also broken & didn't work (tested it on other items i have). Even then, the left control stick on the pad is pretty well stuck, it's so stiff. It is completely unusable to say the least. I couldn't even test if it would work with my version of android, it was so broken already.

I am now having to go through the process of trying to return the product and get my money back via a customer service manager at the local BigW. I got as far in on the phone as saying I had a gamepad to return and the manager asked if it was the NYKO playpad. She said no worries, bring in the e-mailed invoice on paper or display it via my phone & I'll get my money back. This will be the 7th gamepad she has had brought back since Thursday, so there must have been quite a few out there stung by this product as well.

TL/DR - 0/10, it's a broken, poorly designed & manufactured piece of garbage that BigW obviously knows has serious issues with & is trying to dump off on consumers for peanuts in the hope it's so cheap they wont bother with the effort of returning for their cash back.

    • I bought 3 and they all worked, however, as you said the analogue sticks are really stiff and are basically pointless.

    • -1

One faulty device isn't a reason to neg an entire deal removed.

      • There's 4 others in here already at least, who also received faulty units. So yeah, more than enough reason to neg the deal. It's a faulty product that doesn't work as advertised & in my case (along with others) just didn't even work at all.

        • I also received a faulty device

  • +2

Another faulty device here. Battery won't charge. Big w guy said no Refund on shipping.. So if I return I lose $5 just because! Wtf

  • +1

Mine doesn't pair with anything… what a piece of rubbish.

  • +1

If people are having problems pairing, I recommend updating the firmware using this file from Nyko.

    https://www.dropbox.com/sh/nrbp4fefwwu2g6l/IYv8irXZaU

The controller is rubbish, but at least with the current firmware it works somewhat.

    My battery doesn't charge either.

    • +1

Did you return it? Mine doesn't even light up!

      • I ordered it online & the local BigW were fine with me returning it to them for a full refund.

  • The analogue stick is rough, not an easy to use. The way the controller is designed feels weird, especially with the gap on the back. The controller is not supported by much games. It works fine with emulators though, great for pokemon.

  • product was dead on arrival :(

wnet in store for refund, shipping refund is coming in the next few days apparently
