You might want to put a $ sign in the title

Hungry Jacks muffins are disgusting, the service there is abysmal too. Stick with the McMuffins all the way!

Don't know about other states but in QLD at least there are the shop-a-dockets with the buy one get one free McMuffin, my husband and I use them all the time.

    • Never seen those in WA. I do get the buy one Subway Footlong and Med Drink and get one Subway Footlong free though, take that one up quite a bit.

      • You get a footlong free?! Which part of WA are you in? I've only ever seen the get 6inch free

    • +7

      Just consumed

Agree 100%. Maccas are much better

1 came in a hamburger bun (they'd run out of muffins)
1 came with bonus egg shells (almost certain I didn't order them)

      0 from 2. That's a fail.

However, at $2 they are still a great bargain. Very filling for not very $$.

I found the egg (discounting the shell bits) were actually much better than maccas. Muffin, cheese and bacon much better at maccas

      • +2

+1 for the honesty chook. Cheers mate.

      • came with bonus egg shells

Egg shells are full of calcium

      • +2

Ya get egg shells in the mcd ones too…

        • I've had large chunks in mine from the Mcdonalds inside chadstone about 5 times now :/ thankfully it hasn't happened for a while.

      • +2

Maccas buns/muffins are full of sugar; what puts me off purchasing them. Not sure about the HJs ones though; perhaps less or no sugar?

        • +2

They seem to use standard run of the mill supermarket/Tip Top muffins

        • +3

That is correct. Tip Top buns. Our neighbour used to deliver to HJs and whenever he had leftovers we got them, mmm whopper buns..

      • +5

My option is an egg with muffin - no cheese, no bacon, no sausage. Plus a $1.50 coffee. $3.50 breakfast.

Maccas want a $7.45 for a small muffin meal. Personally, I think it's a bit stiff.

      • They added the shells because they were concerned for your calcium intake.

    • yes Maccas are much better

      • +13

The burgers are better at Hungry Jacks.

        • +1

          agree with you too

        • +8

The burgers and frozen cokes are better at hungry jacks

        • [revoked comment]

        • Apparently, muffins ain't.

    • +7

I prefer the HJ muffins over the McD .
The HJ burgers are clearly better than the mcslop.
This price has been going for months now but is definitely a bargain so + :-)
The $1.50 cappuccinos are worth a mention too… very nice.

      • +2

The coffee at HJ is usually really bad, even worse than maccas.
But I had one yesterday at Beaudesert and it was great, maybe different beans nowadays.

        • It's hard to imagine the coffee is actually worse at HJ than Maccas stew.

I'll take your word for it though.

  • +5

You can also add free salad at Hungry Jacks so you can add lettuce, tomato, onion and beetroot for free even to the breakfast muffins.

    • +4

Might ask for jalapenos next time I go in :)

      • +3

Ask for angry onions! You can add it free to any burger!

    • +3

This is where HJ's kills Maccas,

Free salad - you get a $2 breakfast muffin, add lettuce, tomato and spicy sauce and it's bloody great

the same thing at MCD's would empty tour wallet…

      • Yeah, I finally tried that the other day, after remembering the tip from OzBargain.

Sausage and omelette Muffin for $2 + free salad extras (lettuce, onion, tomato) = EPIC WIN. Only thing it was missing was pickle (next time).

Do Macca's even DO salad toppings in the morning?

  • Is that for normal egg and bacon or is it the $2 egg and bacon ( egg is an omelette)?

    • (And omelette is an egg)

  • +6

This has been on for a while.

Maccas has hashbrown and sausage and egg mcmuffinh or bacon and egg for $3.

I noticed they dont advertise it when you go through drive thru but you just need to tell them the $3 brekky meal.

    • +1

That Maccas $3 deal officially ended 21st May, if they are still doing that
      it's very strange….

      • +1

Weird ive had it every day for the long weekend.

I just ask them first before i buy!!

Wanted to get extra hashbrown but that costs $1.80 on its own so got another meal for $3!

  • Is it just me or do the eggs for either Mcdonalds or HJ's smell really bad? I hate it when people eat on a crowded train :p

    • +4

they smell worse abut 2-4 hours after consuming

  • +3

Are the eggs from free-range chickens or the caged prisoner chook varieties?

    Just wondering.

    • +9

I think they get their eggs from some Guantanamo bay high security cruel and unusual cage chooks.

    • organic.

      • orgasmic

        • +3

Not sure where your putting your eggs. Unless a duck has mastered how to ozbargain.

      • +2

        Wouldn't want the non-organic eggs.

  • +1

    Nice leather seats.

    • +7

yeah the money he saves buying $2 muffins he can afford it

      • +2

        Don't get me started!

A craptonne load of potential muffins went into those seats.

        • Is your gf any better at haggling?

        • +1

          A little bit.

At least she knows to stand asside while I go to work. But it can depend on the store person, she has far far better results with some male sales guys.

Although she always gives out a fake phone number when they ask! as far as i know… ;p

        • Luckily, my gf has a good taste in cars! :P

  • +4

    btw.

    2 x $2 sausage muffins

    1 x $1.50 coffee

    = $5.50

    breakfast of champions

    • +1

      or the hung over…. :P

  • +2

Did they cancel and reintroduce this deal? I have been getting these once a week for months now. Don't think this is a new deal but definatley a good deal.

    • +1

Correct, for a very short time (less than a week) they appeared to have stopped the $2 deal on the standard muffins, though the omelette muffins were still at $2

But it seemed almost immediately the standard muffins were back at $2 and now they are advertising it ..

Who knows how they work these things out ….

  • +3

Been $2 at my HJs for over a year now.

  • So no sausage and egg?

    • +1

Only advertised BnE on the radio. You might have luck just asking in store.

  • -2

Was the BIGGEST HJs fan ever! way before they even came to Queensaland. Believe me the quality of thier service has dropped immensely. Go to Maccas so HJs get the point and changes thier substandard ways. If anyone here does not agree that the difference in management between the two franchises is HUGE! then neg this but Maccas has excellent service and HJs needs to lift thier game!

    • +3

I'd rather have crap service with delicious burgers than good service (if you can even call it that) with mediocre food.

HJ pwns Maccas, IMO. Maccas has faster service (the ones I've been to anyway) but apart from that, it's no different to HJ. To use the word "excellent" in reference to their service is quite a stretch lol. Which magical Maccas are you going to?

    • Note this deal is for the actual BnE muffin. That you get better service paying over 75% more for a similar item somewhere else is, IMO, irrelevant.

They've called it, HJs for the OzB crowd! and I'd agree, maccas is better tasting, but HJ smashes it in the value eqtn.
