      Korea made~
      Good brand like samsung

      • +3

TCL is a Chinese company, not Korea. One of the biggest TV manufacture in the world.

      • +1

Hey, TCL is a chinese brand and it has been in oz market for years. I have a TCL LCD TV for almost 2 years, no problem at all.

  • -3

Hmmm, no HD tuner, means you'll need digital set top box

Not quite as good as the Aldi one a while back, but certainly the closest than any other deal since

    • It SAYS HD tuner.
      Read, dude.

      • -2

Actually it says analogue tuner; how different is that to a digital tuner?

        • has both, also certified HD means HD tuner, HD ready means you can plug one in.. have a look at the product page.

also this is a bit of a giveaway that it also has a HD tuner.

          "L42E77DF
106 cm (42”) LCD Full HD Widescreen TV With integrated HD tuner "

      • well it either has an inbuilt digital and analogue capable tuner (a lot of tvs do) or it's just hd capable but comes with analogue tuner only which would be a hassle - set top box, another remote and bunch of wires etc…

      • it actually says "o Analogue Tuner PAL B/G"

so while you can plug rabbit ears into it, it ain't digital and will be useless in a year or two when analog is killed off :)

        READ, dude…

        • -1

          IT ACTUALLY SAYS:

"TCL 42" (106cm) 1080P FullHD LCD TV with HD tuner"

          Read, Dude.

yeh TCL is a very big brand in china….

3 yr warranty definately gets my vote.

    • on the site it's 2 year warranty

      • BingLee declares its 3YR Warranty.

I have also found a warranty booklet in the box, 3YR.

  • Positive from me for 3 yr warranty.

  • +1

TCL is very very big in China, Quite reputable

  • Oh my… you're seriously telling me a company makes a FULL-HD screen… and then doesn't include a digital tuner?

(Okay - fair enough, people like me with HTPC's and consoles wouldn't even use the inbuilt digital tuner…. but still… what the!?!)

    • Ok WTF

TCL 42" (106cm) 1080P FullHD LCD TV with HD tuner

      • Nowhere on this page:

        http://www.tclelectronics.com.au/product.asp?cid=17&pid=18

Does it say this model TV comes with an inbuilt HD tuner, or "TCL 42” (106cm) 1080P FullHD LCD TV with HD tuner".

The features list just says "Analogue Tuner PAL B/G". If this thing does have an inbuilt HD tuner… they seriously gotta update that page to avoid all the confusion! This is why everyone here is thinking this doesn't have an inbuilt HD tuner. If it did, you'd think they'd… well… you know, actually write it somewhere on the page?

EDIT…. Found it, finally - it's ONLY shown in the actual brochure… which is a separate download.

  • This might be a better alternative to the Sanyo 37"
I wonder if any1 could give some feedback about how it looks when connected to a PC or Laptop

    • +1

I ve connected it with my HP laptop (tablet PC, Intel 945G, VGA only). It works fine. But The laptop can't support 1080P. SO I can only set the resolution to 1280x800. No sure how about desktop computer.

Xbox 360 is running at 1080P mode. (component input)

      • So, as the bloke who can settle this once and for all:

Is there an actual DIGITAL HD tuner inbuilt?

And if there is, is there also an analogue tuner?

        • yes, see other posts

certified HD Digital TV means inbuilt tuner, (go to product web page)
Digital ready means no tuner, you need a set top box. this one is however certified, and if you snoop around the site more it says integrated HD tuner.

  • There's no HD tuner in this thing

    • +1

There is an inbuilt HD Tuner.

There is an 'HD Tuner' 'FULL HD 1080P' '3 YR Warranty' sticker on this Unit.

      • no FULL HD just means that it can show full hd signal (such as blue ray) however this one also has both analogue and digital Tuner, see other posts.

  • Thx for the info mate. Did they have 1 on display at the Rockdale store? I imagine they would be available at all BingLee stores or maybe has to be ordered online or something…

    • Yes,they do have one display there. You could also call other binglee to ask.

4 years ago i purchased a 42" TCL plasma from my local good guys with an extra 5 years extended warranty.

delivery of the first tv - plug it in no sound so unplug it and check that it connected right, everything is connected correctly so i turn it back on and then "BANG" smoke starts to bellow out the back.

ring the good guys and take it back and exchange it for another one.
everything goes good for approx 2 years when the plasma starts getting random green spots
so i put it in for service at there recommended service center which took 7 weeks.
get it home from the service center and it was shocking the green spots were still there and now it also had motion blur like watching an old jackson 5 film clip, so i ring up TCL and speak to there service dept and explain all that has happened

now this is the amazing part, i was thinking I'd have to send it back to the TCL factory for them to fix it which would be another month if not more with out a TV
instead of that they exchanged it with a brand spanking new 42" HD LCD with built in HD tuner shipped out the next day.

    +1 vote for TCL

    • lol, I like your story

went to bing lee blacktown, managed to haggle down to $1060 with free delivery. Apparently have heaps in stock at their warehouse in Old Guildford and Carlingford. Will arrive tomorrow =]

  • Can any1 say what the picture quality is like? Obviously it won't be as good as a Samsung or Sony but was it decent? I was gonna get a Samsung 40" but this might be a good way to save $500 if the quality is pretty good.

    • i'll comment on the quality when i get it 2moro =]

  • Got mine delivered yesterday. Cost $1200 with extended 5yr warranty. Quality is great but I can't seem to program any channels other then ABC or SBS. :S
