Key Features

20.1MP Exmor™ APS HD CMOS Sensor
Sony’s 20.1 megapixel* Exmor™ APS HD CMOS sensor and blazing-fast BIONZ™ image processing engine. Every scene is captured beautifully, from corner to corner, with fine details and rich tonal gradations. The sensor’s large size delivers high sensitivity, attractive defocusing effects and low noise in wide-ranging shooting situations including dimly lit environments.

ISO 16000 Sensitivity
Even in dim lighting, you can shoot beautiful photos with natural tonal gradations and low noise — without using a flash. Auto ISO provides outstanding results in most lighting situations and you can select settings manually to suit particular occasions. Excellent low-light performance is made possible by cutting-edge features like the same area-specific noise reduction as found on the a99.

Tru-Finder Electronic Viewfinder
View every scene clearly with the built-in viewfinder, which even shows the effects of exposure and white balance settings so you can accurately check how the final photo will look. Features include 100% frame coverage and various shooting information displays.

Full HD Video
Experience the magnificence of Full HD movies in AVCHD. Support for 60i/50i gives your movies a lifelike feel while aspiring moviemakers can select 24p/25p to re-create the look of traditional cinema. a3500’s responsive autofocus allows you to excellently record moving subjects. The Digital Zoom can be used to extend the lens’ maximum magnification while recording.

Auto Object Framing
This savvy function analyses portraits, close-ups or images of moving subjects, then crops them after you take the shot to produce photos with maximum appeal. Featuring advancements like exceptional two-person portrait capabilities along with Face Detection and Tracking Focus, Auto Object Framing not only turns ordinary photos into stunning compositions but does so effortlessly, automatically recognising the scene, then cropping accordingly.

Picture Effect
Turn every image into treasured keepsakes with Picture Effect - a3500 includes 15 effects that can be applied to photos or movies, allowing you to express yourself freely. View effects in real-time on the LCD screen or viewfinder and experiment with different looks until you achieve the perfect result.

  • Someone got experience with this camera, I am pretty new to SLR system and looking forward to get one with decent price, no need the powerful one, many thanks.

  • They only sell the a3500 in Australia so I couldn't find a review for the exact model. However the are plenty of reviews for the a3000. Sounds like the screen and EVF aren't too good, which is a downer because that's what you use to frame your shots.

It's been $294 at The Good Guys for awhile for the a3000 kit:

    http://www.thegoodguys.com.au/buyonline/Sony_ICLE-3000_Singl…

Yes, I'm aware that the one at TGG is the a3000, but that is the better version. Both the a3000 and a3500 are exactly the same and have the same specifications. The difference is that the a3000 has the better lens as it's the 18-55mm and has Image Stabilization. The a3500 kit comes with a budget 18-50mm lens with no lens stabilization. The 18-50 is also slower than the average kit lens and starts at f/4 (The 18-55 starts at f/3.5).

    • Not a reason to neg, different lens kits are included. And the 1855 is an ancient lens, one of the first lens in the E-mount series and it's pretty bad.

Seems like a valid reason to neg. It is more expensive than the kit with an IS lens that is both faster and has a better reach.

You just read it based on specs without knowing about the product. The lens in the a3000 is sub-par, it's one of the first E-mount lens on the market. Sure you may get more light on it, but you get is an eye full of distortion and vignetting.

Like it said, not a reason to neg because they are different products with this genuinely being on discount.

Do you have anything that shows the 18-50 as being a better lens than the 18-55? THe 3500 is just a cheaper kit of the 3000. THey took the 3000, made it cheaper, slower and generally worse and packaged it as the 3500.

And it is even slower than the 3000

"It also has a shorter buffer, only 6 frames at both Fine and Standard JPEG quality (versus 13 and 30, respectively, on the a3000), and only 4 RAW + JPEG snaps (versus 5 on the a3000). And that's all folks"

It isn't a deal to get a worse kit for the same price as a better kit.

Edit: I had a look around. Cant find anybody saying this slower, non stabilised lens with less reach is anything other than a downgrade from the 18-55

The 3000 is cheaper, has a better lens, and has a better buffer. It is like saying a 1kg tin of milo for $10 is still a deal when you can get 1.25kg for $9.95

  • Its amazing the prices of DSLR in Australia

It was once one of the most expensive places to buy a DSLR but thanks to the net and lax import duty postal charges the manufacturers have had to drop the prices to compete

Still i dont get how a premium smaller sensor compact camera can cost more than one of theses

    MARKETING 101!

Becasue they have a better build quality, smaller, lighter and most importantly a better lens.
It is pretty cool that you can get a 28-300 f2.8 lens now on a premium compact. Sure they are not as good at higher ISO but they have a aperture speed advantage over any kit lens so that is somewhat negated.

      Edit: or this new one.
