ME Bank 4.60% Savings Account for 5 Months

160

Open by 4/7/14, not available for accounts opened before 16/5/14. You could potentially get the 5% cash back via pay pass as well for 3 months but it doesn't say explicitly. Higher than ubank's 4.37% rate for now.

I have an account with Both UBank & ME Bank,

I keep my entire savings with Ubank, and have a home loan with ME Bank,

I'm gussing this extra % Is for new customers only though?

  • External transfer limit for the everyday account appears to be $2000 - it'll take awhile to get money out…

    • Just close your account and all your money goes whoosh!

  • does 5% paywave packback only apply for 100$ or less transactions for both banks?

    • Yep, it certainly does

  • is their any way to come around that, I have buy rMBP from Myer and would really be glad to get xtra 5% off.

Im on this offer at the moment, plus the 5% on everyday account tap and go purchases.
Their online banking is terrible, worse than every other bank I have been with.
    Their card looks cool.
They pay their rebates 30 days after the transaction.
They have a high interest rate.

They are the best value at the moment, highest interest and 5% cashback, but they are certainly not the best service.
    But money > service quality.

  • I still keep their debit card from years ago, so does my wife. Will a joint account be considered as New customer for both the 5% paywave and this high interest account?

    • Only one way to find out…. apply

      • Ahh, I was kicked by ING direct because of bill splitting, anyone has similar experience with MEbank? I will do the same, probably more carefully, on their card if the 5% is available.

      • please people with an answer only reply…
sometimes people want the answer without going thru the motions, like is this disease Ive just acquired curable?

        • No your disease is incurable, but you can re-apply and get the 4.6% interest rate with an existing account open. See below

  • yep signed up with them few weeks ago, thanks to Ted Mosby thread here - https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/145993?page=1#comment

If you have kids 10 to 17 years old check this out -
    http://www.cua.com.au/personal-banking/savings-and-term-depo…

    • For balances up to $5,000

But still, that's $275/year per chid to offset their costs. So have a +1.

      • 5.05% for bal <5k
        3.25% for every dollar > than 5k

But then you could consider placing every $ > 5k in a higher earning acc such as this ME one

  • Any one comment on how long you need to wait if you previous held an account and then closed it, to requalify?

Eg I had one in 2013 and closed it in Jan. Can I have another account now?

    • I love to comment!
I applied today without closing my existing account. See what happens next.

      • Got an email & SMS to say my new account is open, they're posting out the details. Won't know whether it includes the bonus rate until I log in….

Got my welcome pack, but no login details.
Logged in to my old account, and can see both the old and the new savings accounts (and two everyday accounts).
One savings account has 2.9% interest (the old one), and the other (the new one) has 4.6% interest.
I'm ready to state that this myth is CONFIRMED.
My account is a joint account (as is my avatar).
          Sign up again folks!

        • good leg work there muncan, cheers for the answer

  • Received my package and cards today, the bonus interest was mentioned but not 5% cashback anywhere. Is there anyway to know if I am getting cash back for sure, besides calling them? I still have my old accounts open, so calling them may get myself in trouble.
