    Great Find!

Will consider getting some warmer camping gear

One of the best deals I found was the Dune 4WD Stockton Swag, for $69 Reduced from $200, thats 65% off I believe

I got the swag online, VERY disappointed. It is junk, especially the mattess.
Pay no attention to the so-called RRP at this shop. Its not worth $20.

Other things might be good value, but please just look at the price and try to ignore the alleged discounts.
Be aware that most of the brands listed above are their own home-brands.

The folding bike could be good.

Thanks for the info. Thought it was a good deal - obviously not

      • I also got this swag online, it was on clearance for $25. I would say the I have well and truly gotten my money's worth out of it. its not a great swag (i didn't expect much from a ~$20 swag) but it does the job.

also you should never pay attention to the RRP. That's what sites like staticice and ozbargain are for.

Don't get conned by the claimed original price. Good swags - far better than this - can be had for $150-200. Nevertheless at $69 it's a decent price [maybe not given the comment above]. Have noticed that most of Anaconda's swags have thin foam matresses. Unless you're a featherweight the first thing you'll want to do is replace it with a thicker dual density foam one (add another $50 to the price). Probably better to shop around and get a swag with a 50+mm dual density mattress in the first place.

      • I've a Dune swag bought from one of these deals. Agree with the comments about the mattress, but that's the only issue I've had with mine. It hasn't leaked and I live in Victoria - enough said

    Some bargains to be had.

The -5 rated cocoon "Explore Planet Earth" sleeping bag at $29.99 is a bargain if you're intent on a cheapie and can cope with cocoon style - only available in store. I wouldn't rely on the rating for cold activities though.

Same bag is $99 at Kogan. Here's what they say about it (can't find anything on the Anaconda website):

Designed to deliver toasty warmth in cooler climates, there’s no skimping on a cosy sleep and your comfort in the great outdoors when you use the Cocoon Sleeping Bag. The Cocoon Sleeping Bag range uses maxotherm fibres which are lightweight, yet capture air and therefore efficiently provide thermal insulation. All Cocoon Sleeping Bags come with a compression stuff-sack for tighter packing.

    Features:
    Shell is 300T rip-stop polyester
Lining is 210 soft touch polyester
Insulated with 2 layers of 150gsm maxotherm plus polyester fibre
Left and right opening options for easy access
    300T rip-stop carry compression bag
    Zipper guard draft tube
    Thermal shoulder collar
    Hooded - tapered Rectangular

    • Their ratings are quite close. I was sleeping in the Snowy Mountains a few weeks ago in my 'Explore Planet Earth' sleeping bag and I was very warm in -4 degrees.

  • Good sale, lots of God value stuff if you walk around and compare quality to discount price. As stated above, ignore their "normal" prices.
Also, worth having a look at rays outdoors, a lot of very similar stuff and also on sale.

    Just watch the prices.
We looked at tents a few weeks ago and they had 50% off spinifex brand.(now it's 40% off)
Tents were for example $649, now $325 but the price ticket on the shelf showed the original price as $599, so half price should have been $300.
