  • i think i got ripped off. bought 13" 256gb for $1002.6 (inclusive of staff discount) but it was ex display. its been "restored and polished" with all accessories (charger mouth has scratches)" but it should've been cheaper. but it was the only one in stock so i didn't want to push my luck… I'm not really bothered to go back but my inner ozbargain is annoyed that i could've got it cheaper. anyone have any thoughts on display stock? like isn't battery ruined since its plugged in all day? but apple warranty looks after that right? thoughts?

      Jesus. You've got no idea…

The warranty is exactly the same as new warranty they do not put ex display on the receipt usually. Just goes through as an ordinary sale so yes the battery is covered. You got a decent deal.

      • cool thanks. i can sleep soundly tonight :)

        no idea

        No need to be rude.

Under the Apple warranty, the battery is covered only for manufacturing defects. Being plugged in for a few months and being fondled by uncountable Myer customers isn't a manufacturing defect.

Under Australian consumer warranty, if your battery ages early I don't think you would be covered as you already got your discount. Others may want to pitch in on this.

Run some battery life benchmarks. If you are already noticing a big hit take it back. Otherwise just put $150 aside each year to buy a replacement when the time comes.

        • i just checked the battery in system info… its had 196 charge cycles :/ battery health is normal though, but ill probs have to go back in to negotiate cheaper price or for a brand new model but i bet it'll be sold out.

Battery won't be "ruined" by being plugged in; Apple's circuitry that manage the charging does an excellent job of preserving and optimising the battery life. Apple pays a lot more attention to that area than competitors do… some of whom think of frequent battery replacement as an important source of revenue.

Plus AppleCare will take care of problems.

Top three bargains on homepage are all from Myer? That doesn't sound right…

    • I feel some sort of conspiracy going on

Time for DickSmith to come up with 11.75% discount offer?

  • 2 different OS installed and ran onto a 128GB MacBook Air…not a good idea, 256GB will have no problems at all.

    • This person could just get an SD card expansion adapter and shove a 128GB MicroSD card for the MacBook.

      • What's the cost?the read and write speed? the reliability?the look?

        • Apotop SmartSuit Slim SD Card Drive.
          http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=9SIA1W70HF42…

Good luck finding one here - I bought mine (pack of 3) from Taiwan.

        • That's more like a micro SD card adapter, can't be considered as a built-in hard drive, and the microsd's read n write speed cannot compete with SSD at all. More importantly, is it possible to install Windows OS into the micro Sd card? I think answer is no.

  • Anyone know when this deal expires?

Spoke to Myer. It's a "clearance" item, guess it will be on sale until stock runs out.

We should chip in to purchase some land near Sydney and form a country there so that more TRS refund can be done without leaving the Australian continent.

    • You've got my vote, President Pirateozbargain.

  • I bought the Dell i7 from the other deal, otherwise tempted to buy this. But these are completely different from the Dell. It had 16GB ram and 1TB storage. This is 4GB ram and 128GB SSD is fast but too small.

  • Seriously considering the MBA13
Any suggestions on a dock for it?
I use my laptop as part of a desktop set-up most of the day and on lap at night
Presume a USB dock system is available - suggestions?

"On September 10, 2013, Intel showcased the Broadwell 14 nm processor in a demonstration at IDF. Intel CEO Brian Krzanich claimed that the chip would allow systems to provide a 30 percent improvement in power use over the Haswell chips released in mid-2013."
"Mobile CPUs are expected in Q4 2014 and high-performance quad-core CPUs in 2015. The mobile CPUs will benefit from the reduced energy consumption of the die shrink."
    I'm waiting for this

  • Is it sold out? it says unavailable

    • Yup 13" is out of stock. Dick smith has it for $999 is that a good deal?

  • I wonder if they would do a sale for Macbook Pro as well.

  • Got the last MBA 13" at my local. Will net out to $829 factoring in the value of MyerOne points and TRS.

Basically it looked to be a discount price for superseded model, then less another $100 which is the dealing currently going on all MacBooks at Myer.
