I think they have mixed up the pricing between the 1m (showing as $69 reduced from $89) and 2m models, but it's sold by Amazon AU.

You may be able to get it price matched elsewhere if you don't want to take the risk.

This appears to be the new version released in September, which has a Qi2 25W certification.

  • Thanks for that, for some reason on the Business site my $10 promo came up twice and I ended up paying $49 ….

Seems Officeworks is @ $70 too. So probably not a mix up.

    • +1

Officeworks is an older model (MX6Y3AMA) compared with the new model (MGDM4AM/A) that's why it is on clearance.

  • Two reviews from last week suggest they messed up:

"The Apple MagSafe Charger was perfect, new model, faster charge etc, but whilst I ordered 2m ones, I only received 1m cables. Amazon looked after me, which was great, but frustrating none the less."

    "I ordered the 2 m but I got the 1m instead.
    The charger is very good"

    • they just mixed up your order.

  • I assume the price drop is due to the slightly different model that released with the 17s

    • This seems to be the new version with braided cable and listing says 25W charging.

Warning they sent me the 1m and when I requested a replacement they sent me the 1m again.

I complained and they fully refunded me and let me keep one of them so it worked out ok but still not great.

I mean a free MagSafe cable for a bit of work and trip to the post office isn't the worst outcome tbh

      • +1

But getting what you ordered would have been better.

    • I guess I was too nice and agreed to return both.

    • +4

The same thing happened to me. They ended up refunding me and letting me keep two chargers lol.

Beware though. Amazon is known to block customers for doing "too many returns"

      • +1

Of course, they will take action against people who abuse it, but this isn't that.

      • +1

Do we have any quantifiable evidence on what constitutes “too many returns”? It’s seems ridiculous they’d ban people for making returns that are in line with their own policy but I guess Bezos & Co can do what they like?!

Am I the only one that gets annoyed at them calling this a charger when it's just the cable? For this price they could surely be throwing in the little 20W charger brick.

I am not sure if things have changed. Last time I used a wireless charger, it messed up phone’s battery health. Battery health dropped from 100% to 80 something % within months. That was iPhone 12. I then stoped using wireless charger.

With my current iPhone 15, I only use wired charger and battery health is sitting at 98% after months of use.

    • Depends on what charger you’ve been using. I’ve been sticking with Qi2 chargers and it charges fast without getting hot and battery health has been fine.

If you use slower wireless chargers (Qi1 or 10W), they are less efficient and generate more heat which is not good for battery health. I've seen phones drop battery health significantly from this.

      • Mine was an Alogic 10W Qi wireless charger. I have never tried the Apple one and hence I wasn’t sure if these Apple ones are better for the battery.

      • If you use slower wireless chargers (Qi1 or 10W), they are less efficient and generate more heat

Citation needed, have never heard of this. It should be the other way around, the faster/higher powered wireless chargers generate more heat.

    • +1

I agree - i used magsafe charger for a few months, it killed about 6% of my battery in that time. down to 79%.. now i have a new battery on my iphone 13 pro

      • +1

if you got apple care they'll change the battery over for free iirc

    • Was it an Apple or aftermarket wireless charger?

      • It was an Alogic 10W Qi wireless charger.

        • This article is worth a read which explains the differences between the two standards.

    • +1

Yes, wired is the way. Wireless charging tends to generate more heat, which can degrade battery health more quickly than wired charging.

These get quite warm - not good for the battery

  • Is it just the wireless puck and lead, or is there a charger as well?

    • Just puck and lead. This is a cable only. No power adapter included

  • Is this with metal ring like the pictures look like it's the metal ring - heard there's a silcone bumper or similar on newer ones so no marking on the iphone17's

    • I think that was only for the in store ones as the old ones were scratching the hell out of the phones from being used so often.. And it really was an issue… I went in 2 days after 17 launched and already every phone in the store was haggard.

I think Apple thinks the metal one LOOKS better so I doubt they will produce the non-scratching one for the general public.

Happy to be wrong. I have one from just before they had the braided cable and it definitely left marks on my previous iphone.

  • Suggest getting it price matched with JB or Officeworks who will just look at item description and then match,

Amazon has had the the price and item model numbers mixed up (aka if you look at the the model numbers for both the 1metre and 2metre versions on apple's website vs Amazon they are the wrong way around) this is why people will get shipped the wrong one, not a problem if your fine to deal with wrong item shipped then get replacement (which will be packed to align to the item model number not the title) but why bother when you can just get it price matched anywhere else

    • +1

By the sounds of it, they'll mess up again and just refund you allowing you to keep 1 or even 2 of the sent items.

That's really the only benefit, or if like me, you had two $10 promos attach themselves to the final price…

  • It was $59.99 at Costco - currently OOS online but your local warehouse may have stock.
2m newer version as well with up to 25w and braided cable.

  • +1

25W charging without a cooling fan. Remember to note down you battery health.

  • Ordered 1m just received 2m charger.

    • If you contact Amazon will they refund you ?

  • I've ordered both the 1m and 2m models and will report back with what I receive.

    • Received my first order today, ordered the 2m model but received the 1m model.

      • what the heck chaos

        So do u get refund?

        • Yes, I have to return it though.

          • @topherboi: so what you gonna do return it?

            rip

            • @SkyeMG: Yeah, I've also ordered the 2m model at the same price which is being delivered in a couple of weeks.

              • @topherboi: So you got two orders of 2m?

                • @SkyeMG: Well, the second order was actually the '1m' model on Amazon, so I assume I will be receiving the 2m model.

  • +1

Went on chat. Offered a replacement or refund as also received the 1m charger. Chose a refund without return. Thanks OP 👍

    • I chose replacement without return as could always do with a 1m, but really wanted the 2.

Hopefully I get the 2 and don’t need to deal with Support again (But they are quick, thankfully)

      • You will most likely end up with a couple of the 1m chargers for free.

        • They aren’t giving me any choice :/

  • Ordered 2m on Wednesday, order arrived today, 1m. Chatted with support and a replacement is on the way..

    • Is it stil bugged you reckon ?

      • Worst case, return it, best case (For you I assume), yes.

    • Update, replacement is also 1 m, was offered return free refund but insisted on getting 2m, the representative said even though the item was sold by Amazon, the inventory is managed by apple. They opened a ticket to check the inventory and told me to contact them in 24-48 hours.

      • I got sent a 1m :(

  • The 1m model (actually 2m) is available again for the same price.

    • wait what so if you order 1m it sends you 2m

and if you order 2m it sends you 1 still haha

      they really haven't fixed it?
