I bet OP only saw the 'FREE'… I wonder how many people took one without purchasing.
I asked staff what the asterix was. They said "just take them, don't worry" and then told me off when I didn't take enough.
Checkout staff didn't bat an eyelid at a half dozen without relevant purchase.
