If you have ever deleted a file by accident or had a corrupt drive, this software could save your backside. Like most windowsdeals software I doubt it does upgrades, but hey it's file recovery and it free. I'm not sure if it's windows 8 friendly or not. I'm not running windows 8 so I could not try it. Someone might be kind enough to see and comment.

  • Does this have any advantages over using Spinrite (apart from being free ?)

  • I'm not sure if it's windows 8 friendly or not.

If it does 'disk' recovery, it should not need any OS…

    • If someone with windows 8 wants to download it and see if it installs then we will know.

      • Have just downloaded and it's currently repairing an old harddrive I had here. Running Windows 8

  • so how would this help recover files in a non-spinning disk?

    • +1

      a non-spinning disk?

      try these…

    • My guess would be pixie dust. Seriously though it would be similar to spinning disk, reads what it can and saves in a way so it's 'valid' file structure and hopefully you get some usable data. It amazes me that any of these recovery programs can pull usable data, yet they have saved my backside more than once!

      • oh really? I always thought once the disk dont spin no more you wont be able to recover anything…
So do you just hook up the harddisk and this software would magically reads the non-spinning disks?

        • I always thought once the disk dont spin no more you wont be able to recover anything…

it might be possible to move the disks to another unit, but this would cost your $1,000's !!!

        • Sorry non-spinning, as in USB stick can be fixed. A non-spinning HDD is fun to open up and have a look at the pretty platter/s inside, or as a boat anchor if you have a really small boat, or to prop your monitor to a better angle. But the data on that is gone unless you send it to a forensic place where they literally open it up and rebuild the bits to read the data. I had a client look into it was about $800 and had no guarantee.

      • Clever yes, amazing no.

        • Associated? and incorporated.

  • Where does it say this SW is by EASEUS?

      • Where does it say on the windows deal page that this SW is by EASEUS? A full keyword search showed not a single mention of the company!

        • You are right, I got it wrong, I'm updating the post now.

        • No worries, I am a user of EASEUS so the screen shots straight way said there was something not right! EASEUS is good stuff and better than quiet a few on the market.

        • Done. It's actually WizardRecovery.com The name when I researched the program before listing was so generic I made a mistake trying to find the right company. Easeus also have a set of programs call Disk Recovery Wizard. Sorry for any confusion.

  • Also how does this differ from EaseUS Data Recovery Wizard Free? Which is free for windows…

    • The free EaseUS program is crippled to 2GB max data recovered. This program does not limit so you can do whole drives regardless of size.
