  should I risk it?
  we have a DMR-BW500 (payed about $1600) haven't used it for a couple of years or longer, just takes to long to switch on, (not joking - press the on button, go fill up the kettle, make a couple cups of coffee go back to the lounge and it maybe be ready for the first stage of loading a BD disk. In comparison the Toshiba BDX3200 @ $110 is on almost instantaneously even switches the Panasonic TV to the right AV channel for play. Down side it has no recorder.
