It's a clearance item, I have seen them in a few WA stores also.
What does it look like? Any pic?
Be aware that 'tempered glass' can sometimes just mean that the items have been shouted at by disgruntled shop assistants.

I have 2 pairs of these from target too ($7, 3 months ago on clearance)
Only problem i've found is the adjuster for the height is poorly threaded and slips a bit with weight. (Only on 1 set)
Simple fix of double sided tape under the plastic peice, but it annoying, and as it was clearance, it was refund or put up.Could you use something like white plumbing tape?
Sorry for the late reply but yes i suppose thread tape might work but its a plastic cylinder over a steel thread.
Meaning its the plastic threat that wears (strips) so thread tape will help but double tape just locks it down for my light and little bose surrounds
