$33 USB 2.5in/3.5in SATA HDD Docking Station and 64 in 1 Card Reader

80

SATA hard drive docking station with 64 in 1 card reader and USB hub built-in. Now you can instantly add an HDD to your system and even hot-swap multiple drives.

How does it work? Simply place your 2.5 or 3.5 inch SATA hard drive into the docking station and you are ready to go. Yes, it is as simple as that! Now there is no need to open up your computer and adjust your computer setting to add an additional HDD to your system. Yes, now you can finally add an additional hard disk to your computer just as easily as you can with an SD card or USB thumb drive! Better still, this unit also includes multi-format memory card and USB slots so you can also use this unit to copy files in between multiple types of storage devices.

I have the same one on my desk, and on a side note its the fastest Compactflash card reader I own and I have quite a few, 23 Megabytes/sec file copy with this compared to 3Mb - 7Mb with my other ones, also had good speeds with SD & notebook HDD's

  • Go to the topbuy home page and follow the link from the there. This ozbargain link is old.

    • I've mentioned that, buy why would a rep even post a "bad" link, it was already after 12 when it was posted, they may have well posted a link direct to the item and not look bad.

  • For those who are interested in this deal, you can also get it from dealextreme at USD$31.74 with free delivery
    http://www.dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.16550
Or if you don't need the card reader, you can have this one at USD$29.52
    http://www.dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.16551

With free delivery and strong AUD these days, this could work out cheaper.

While the dealextreme unit is cheaper, it's worth noting that the power plug you get is not australian. To use that unit, you'll need a universal power point or adaptor. Also, if you plan to give this as a gift, don't expect the packaging from dealextreme to arrive in a nice rectangular box. It'll most likely come squashed.

If the above doesn't bother you, then yeah, dealextreme would be the cheaper alternative.

Dealextreme are cheap, but a lot of their goods are knockoffs (memory cards, USB sticks, torches, knives) I have stopped dealing with them because I have stuff on backorder from July last year, postage takes a month and often the items they send you is wrong or poorly wrapped. My last purchase was some UV filters for my canon DSLR camera and when they got here they were all scratched, A USB hub that had a rattle and didn't work & a torch that lasted 2 days before the LED burnt out. Its just easier and quicker to just cut up your money and flush it down the toilet that way you wont have to wait a month to be disappointed.

  • The http://www.dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.16550 one appears to use what is commonly known as an IEC plug (see http://www.dealextreme.com/photogallery.dx/sku.16550~seQ.5) so no problem, no different to most desktop computer power leads.

I was using Paypal earlier today, they were using an exchange rate of $1AUD to roughly $0.81USD.

  • damn it! where where you last month when i bought one without a card reader! i need a card reader too the one i have doesn't read SDHC! have a separate SDHC card reader for it.

does the card reader work via esata or do you have to plug in usb as well fo rit?

  • I've various other means of doing what this baby does, but not in the one package.
I'd been humming and haring about getting one of these type of units for about a year,, so this time I've jumped and grabbed one.

As for the DX deal, for around AUD$3 more (delivered to Brisbane - cheaper for you Mexicans, + factoring in MBC 5% cash-back & international transaction banking fees) I'm happy to have an AU power cord included, + a 60 day warranty with an AU trader thanks very much.

Edit - if the discount shipping code from Zero Sydney below works, then the DX deal would be MORE expensive than this Topbuy deal.
