Pretty sure price between Cairns and Melbourne are higher than normal for a "sale"

    • Price between Cairns and Brisbane at $79 is cheap.

Melbourne to Brisbane is $79, that's not too bad. Then go through the order price and I'm charged $9 extra for checked baggage per person, then a $5 seat fee?? per person then finally hit the payment page and see "AUD $8.50 per passenger per booking applies for Visa Credit Cards".

So works out at over $100 per person travelling from Melbourne to Brisbane, not much of a saving going on there.

These charging tactics are deceptive and unhelpful. If there's an alternative for a comparable (even a little higher) price, I'll go with that so as not to endorse such crap.

Should be illegal. Probably is, govt never do anything.

If there is no way to buy something for that price, you can't advertise that price. Given you're required to have a seat it's not an optional extra, so prices should be including the cheapest seat option.

Might as well advertise $1 flights with $78 seat selection.

      • Agreed…and so much for the ACCC's big-noting as per: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/149523

You can skip the seat selection screen and not allocate your own seats to save the $5 fee. Then at online check in you can select your own seats from whatever is remaining.

        • Ahk. It wasn't clear you could avoid the charge when I last went Jetstar a few years ago

      $5 seat fee

I'll stand thanks, do it all the time on the train to work.

Yeah, but I'd have to give up my seat to a nice bogan lady abusing Asian passengers! ;)
