$169 from Officeworks, JB, HN

Hi, I was looking for an extra storage for my eBay-Kogan Macbook Air that is due in a couple of weeks
I was on the page and it was showing US $109~$124. 30 minutes later silver and red are down to US$99.99

This is usb 3.0, 2.5" portable HDD that can be powered via usb
This is the slim version

Standard shipping to Melbourne costs about US$6.20

I used my 28 degrees card and purchased in USD.
Since Amazon conversion rate is 1.10:1, I think I'm looking at around AU$115 including shipping

      • +3

  • Is this the same product except full size instead of slim?

$99 Seagate Backup Plus 2TB Desktop Hard Drive USB 3.0 @ Dicksmith

    • +2

I believe the Desktop hard drive is AC powered whereas the one here is USB powered.

    • +2

Yes, the key word is "desktop", not "portable".

    • +2

No. The DickSmith one is a 3.5" drive that requires a power adapter whereas the Amazon one is a portable drive that only requires USB for both data transfer and power. The DickSmith one will be about the size of a iPad Mini whereas the Amazon one will be about the size of a phone.

    • +2

That drive isn't portable, it's a bulky desktop drive that I imagine requires an AC adapter to power it. The one in this article is a portable drive so it'll be USB powered and considerably more portable. 2.5" HDDs come in a variety of heights, so the "slim" in the product name is pointing towards it being on the thinner end of the spectrum. "Slim" drives will be a few millimetres smaller than the thicker portable drives.

For those who want local stock for any reasons (quick. 3-yr warranty…)
You can get it from Bingleeat $125 BUT only with the Amex card $25 offer. (Currently at $149, just say you want it to be $150 since "everything is negotiable" I am sure they won't mind)

Cheapest way to obtain a 9.5mm 2t drive for ps4

    • Yep - in fact I think this product is almost the only way to get hold of the ST2000LM003 drive - it doesn't seem to be widely available to purchase by itself.

  • NICE! I bought one. Thank you OP.

    GRRR I hate Seagates

    • +4

      It's got a Samsung M9T drive inside

      • Samsung's HDD business was purchased by Seagate in 2011. Also, it's model number ST2000LM003 gives it away as a Seagate drive. Strange that they chose to label it a Samsung…

  • crazy cheap

  • got the red one for aud$122.68 shipped using citibank card
    thanks

    • that's expensive. You may as well use the Amazon Currency Conversion!!

You can cancel it first and then re-order it again.

      • Yeah, using the Amazon converter it comes to $117.53 AUD which is what it will charge your card.

        • humm thats weird
          the red cost usd109.99
and using the amazon converter makes it aud128.75

        • +1

@ee6oos: did you choose standard shipping?

Edit: red is back to $109.99 USD now. Choose silver to get it down to $99.99

  • Can this work with macbook (2nd drive) (macbook with unibody superdrive)

    • +2

Can work with any pc and mac. If you use MacOS, just format before use.

  • I don't need one yet, but good price. I just placed an Amazon order this morning. One of the items was shipped already so I can't cancel to add this, or I would have.

I'll wait till there are more things I want to buy from AMZ, and hope HDD deals like this will be available at the time.

Yeah I like to combine as many items so I don't have to pay the fixed per-order shipping cost too many times. I'm tight.

    • You can contact them and request a request a refund for the price drop if its within 7 days of delivery.

  • +1

Great. Was waiting for the price to drop on WD but happy with this one. Thanks!

  • price is back to 109 now .. missed

  • I got one earlier. Thank you. Those who missed, contact the customer service and they may offer the same price.

  • I hope this deal comes back.

  • Still worked for me… $112.08 on my 28 Degrees card.
