TRAVINS14

Hi Guys

I put my passport application in today and noticed on the receipt there is a promotion for 10% off travel insurance from Australia Post and thought I'd share it. I doubt it is a unique code.

Offer details:
Present this receipt at the counter when you purchase travel insurance instore or use the promocode(TRAVINS14) online at auspost.com.au/travelinsurance or by calling 1300 728 015.

I will try and scan the receipt tomorrow and post it.

Hope someone finds it useful.

  • 10% off is not really a bargain if it cost more than what other insurance companies offer…

yup but the more coupon codes the better

It doesn't necessarily. It was by far the cheapest we found for domestic cover, and with better inclusions than any others we looked at.

  • Woolworths travel insurance 5% "WELCOMEHOME", a quick google shows that Auspost is using Great Lakes who resells Hollards, so same insurance company. For those who wish to compare.

Mine is not a deal per se but i'm heading off to japan on a 50% Jetstar deal and have done a helluva lot of research on Travel Insurance and for the coverage and the price, Southern Cross Travel Insurance is miles ahead! And no i'm not a rep for them.

    • Southern Cross Travel Insurance is pretty good for international, pity they don't do domestic.

I also found AP to be a good deal for domestic.

      • Fair point, i didn't even look to see if they offered domestic.
Has anyone used the insurance that comes 'complimentary' with some credit cards? The info is very vague and it just seemed too risky. I have a Virgin Money Platinum card but the cover seemed to be a bit lacking.

        • Yeah I've never risked using the CC travel insurance. Too many gaps in the coverage and I'd imagine it would hard to deal with

        • My parents have claimed twice with the travel insurance through their ANZ card. I think the insurer is QBE. Their first claim was huge as they had to cancel their whole trip due to my Dad being diagnosed with cancer. The second was a smaller claim of around $1800 I think. Both times they were paid in full with no problems.

$74.70 with Australia Post (inc. 10% discount)
    vs
$63.29 with Woolworths (inc. 5% discount)

Went with Southern Cross Travel Insurance for $57.00

For international travel I always use Travel Insurance Direct (TID) - they've usually got a discount coupon floating about somewhere and they're generally the cheapest. Also have good inclusions in the policy too.

    • I looked at them and they came in second but were still 8% more expensive than SCTI AND they have lower coverage levels. Try a side by side comparison.

      • Actually I just looked at SCTI and they were $4 more expensive for a trip I've booked in the USA but you're right, the coverage levels are better.

I've already got travel insurance though! Ah well. At least I know TID are good to deal with, have used them in the past and when the rental car company wanted to charge me for a flat tyre they dealt with it immediately.

  • Australia Post was a very good price when I did Annual travel insurance with them. However I think that the cover level was very basic. Ok for me but maybe not for everyone.
