  • Clock but no alarm?

  • Do you get stereo through the headphones, or is it mono only?

Also, when you say mains power, do you mean a mains lead or a plugpack?

    • +1

Mains = 240 volts. So it needs to be plugged in.

Headphones are nowhere to be seen, and no port on the cabinet for that matter - Officeworks site is wrong it seems.

  • thats my learning of a new word done for the day.

  • North Sydney has stock near Sydney CBD.

    • +1

Well they should probably go get it!

  • I wonder why most of these DAB radios lack AM.

    • +1

Because most of the AM stations (at least in Melbourne) have digital transmission as well.

I just got one from Chadstone. It does the job well in our kitchen for the digital versions of the the 4 AM stations we listen to.

    • Because the overwhelming majority of UK radio stations broadcast on FM, not AM. There are some AM stations, but they're few in number.

Australia's radios are mostly compatible with the UK (except we use DAB+, not DAB)…

      • Fortunately for us UK DAB radios must be DAB+ compatible (I assume in case they decide to upgrade to it one day.)

    • Cause DAB is designed to replace AM..
      Quality Wise
      CD > FM > Streaming Internet Radio > DAB/+ > AM > SW

      • That would be a disaster - digital radio has a smaller footprint than FM, whereas with a minimum of work and a length of wire, you can easily pick up AM over 1000 Km away in daytime and further at night. To move to DAB+ and ditch AM would be to totally shaft rural and outback Aussies.

        As I see it, DAB+ is a solution looking for a problem…….

        • Well you get much better "AM" clarity on DAB+ (where you can get signal), so there is a "problem" that it solves..
but yes, there's a reason why they only broadcast DAB to Capital Cities and there are no plans to extend it any further and there's no kill date for AM.
