Benq i91 Nettop All-in-One $449 @ HarveyNorman

12

Harvey Norman's price is Hardly Normal.
This one caught my attention when BenQ i91 Nettop All-in-one listed as $999.

This is a nice sleek nettop.

Here is the deal:
1. Print out the following page
http://www.onlinecomputer.com.au/product_info.php?products_i…
2. Go to Harvey Norman
3. Ask them to beat OnlineComputer's Benq i91 ($499) by 110%
that is, $999 - ($999-$499)x110% = $999 - 500x110% = $999 - $550 = $449.

Ah, HardlyNormal, you have done it again!!

PS. Do not tell your friends if they are closely related to Hardly Normal

  • It pays to ring your local stores for stock availability before you go.
Be an efficient bargain hunter! :)

  • I highly doubt any store would price match that much difference especially to an online store with low overheads like onlinecomputer.

You'll definitely get a lot of positives if you actually buy it yourself at that price and scan receipts for the rest of us to use.

  • last time, I tried to get HN to beat the PC shop price to buy a speaker, I printed to prove, I get them to call to check stock availability but cannot beat the price or even price match even talk to the manager still they don't want to honour the price match. Tried to beat office work printer's price also cannot but only price match, might as well go back to OW because it is the first to shows the best price. This is HN in Chadstone but who knows different HN has different policy. Good luck.

  • Having some inside knowledge of HN (from a few years ago), I know most stores have the policy of trying their best not to price match, or the store manager would come out, act like the hero saying we would match it, then when we went 'out the back' to get one, they were all gone (oh, and the display model doesn't work, and those boxes are all display models :P) - I'm sure many people have heard that at one time or another….

    • Yeah, I had that with a lowly printer..and it wasn't even an online price, but a price on the other side of town cut from the newspaper.
HN price was $220, computer shop price was $110..
      HN refused to match it..
      So much for Price Guarantee!

  • Ozbargain totally needs a 'retailers' section where we can give + and - votes to retailers explaining why, then, when a bargain comes up, we know if it's worth getting - I know there's other places like that on the net, but the community here is way more switched on than those 'others' :P

According to the HN Price Promise T&C:
To be eligible for Price Promise you must purchase and pay for in full a product from a franchisee. Within thirty (30) days after the date of purchase, you must have found a bona fide advertised price for an identical product (including supplier and model no.) in a daily newspaper or catalogue or on commercial radio or television (photographs will not be accepted) and delivered copies and/or evidence to the franchisee. Application for claims for the Price Promise can only be accepted by the franchisee where you made your purchase.

yeah and id be keeping the thing boxed and the receipt handy to return it anyway. I don't trust them at all.

also it from what you said they wont match price guides or listings or web pages, must be a catalog, newspaper or other advertisement media… seems pretty limited… i like office works price match policy a lot better.

As with any PriceMatch/PriceGuarantee, store manager's decision is final.
There will definitely be some store managers that are nicer/friendlier than other store managers.
I went to Harvey Norman in Gordan (Sydney). The store mamanger agreed to refund 110% price difference on the spot - saving me time in buying the product at Harvey Norman's Hardly Normal price, come back with competitor's catalogue and get my refund.
By the way, I did that with my purchase of HP netbook dv2 one month ago.

I'm going to have to vote negative on this. Reason being is that this isn't a bargain. I see this as more of an 'assumption' that this may be a bargain, with plenty of hoops to jump through. I agree with the posts above, that Harvey Norman rarely pricematches, specially if its significantly under their listed price. If this was JB Hifi/Officeworks, then you will get a +ve from me..
