    • Back in stock now. Amazon replenishes stock levels several times per day on high turnover items.

  • Whoops, ignore

  • Looking for a 16gb or 8gb deal but need it in 3 days.

    • I picked up one the other day for $213 (8gb), not a spectacular deal but better than nothing. The good guys has them for 224 and I got Officeworks to pricebeat

      • thats the 3G version.

Some issues with the Micro SD card function have surfaced and have been reported world wide:

  • Are you sure the UK and Oz 4G bands are the same?

The little research I did suggested there were differences.

I'm sure this phone will continue to fall in price, and there is already talk of a MkII with better camera, etc.

    • But that one is Moto G successor and does not include 4G. No idea about UK and Oz differences, but Aus one is XT1039 with an EU system version (21.1.31.peregrine_reteu.reteuall.em.EU reteu).

    • I was wondering the same. I believe it supports 850/1900Mhz bands which aren't supported in Oz
According to this ebay listing with the same manufacturers model#
      http://m.ebay.co.uk/itm/231278683983?cmd=VIDESC

      • UK sites say LTE bands 3, 7, 20

        Oz sites say LTE bands 1, 3, 7, 8, 20

Don't know if the UK phones have bands 1 & 8 as well and just don't mention it, or if there is a real difference.

        3, 7, 8, 28 & 40 are the Oz bands, with 3 & 7 being the main bands outside Canberra,

        • So no support for Band 28 which is the 700MHz spectrum that is currently being rolled out and offers superior coverage. Might wait for the next model and hope band 28 is supported as I live in a lousy coverage area.

        • Whereabouts did you find the UK version LTE bands? I can't see them listed on the Motorola UK site.

        • Just found out, there are different software versions for Moto G 4G for US, Brazil, UK and Europe. We fall into europe (but not UK) cos of the same LTE bands. So purchasing this from UK may not be such a good idea.

Wow, Motorola are still around? You are the colour of my day… red purple blue and grey…

have you been living under a rock?

    • As Google bankrolled Motorola Mobility, they'll probably survive longer than you.

Just upgraded to KitKat 4.4.4 last night, yay.

      • Lamenovo/NoLove now owns Motorola.

        • Just the mobile business. And they got a good headstart thanks to Google, who extracted the patents before selling the company.

KK 4.4.4 gets me through an 8 hour day with only 20% drop in battery capacity.

        • @greenpossum:

That's pretty good! Means it will last upto 4.5-5days on a full charge if the same daily usage pattern.

What is the battery drain rate/how much does the battery drop during the 16hrs of idle time?

My one is still on v4.4.3, might upgrade now.

        • @grab_ur_freebies: I haven't left it off the charger for that long, but if the extrapolation is correct, it should be possible to get at least 2-3 days from a full charge at my usage pattern, check email, check messages, look at a website or two every hour or so, with location on, but no video playing. I don't make or get many calls so I can't factor that in.

  • Coming up as 139.95 GBP + del for me? Also out of stock…

Add it to cart and set delivery address to Aussie. Then the VAT comes off.
'Temporarily out of stock.' I have seen them restock very quickly. Amazon is good at that.

      • Ah ok, thanks for clarifying.

I've got the 16GB. This is completely OT, but I cracked my screen. Bought a new screen + LCD on ebay for $30 and replaced it in under 20 minutes. And in the process, also discovered that the battery is indeed replaceable after you undo some screws. I love my Moto!!!

    • thanks. Hoping phone sellers will eventually learn from the auto industry the value of serviceability, which gives long life and higher resale prices.

      • Not sure that will happen. It seems the life expectancy of mobile phones is reducing. Specs go up so quickly nowadays that it is hard to justify holding onto the same phone for more than 2 years.

          So true.

          Sent from my Nokia 3210

      • That's actually what they don't want - both phone and automobile manufacturers. Their product has a service life and it will function for the duration. When its life is over you but a new one and the old one ceases to be used, hopefully to be recycled into the raw materials to be reused in the production process.

        • yeah, unfortunately long service life is not in phone manufacturers' interests.

Maybe that's less true with cars, where people who buy 5-10 year old cars are unlikely to consider new ones. Hence there's an incentive to ensure long lifetimes, because that helps resale which is a factor in many new car purchases.

With phones, OTOH, there's a lot less of a used market. So for most people it's a cycle of buy new, keep for 1-2 years, buy new again. Most of my friends/family don't even consider selling old phones, so they don't care how long they last, as long as the phone lasts for the duration of their 2 year contract.

  • I was hoping they'd keep the dual SIM feature as well as 4G.

    • and just as many (or more) people were hoping they would ditch dual SIM in favour of micro SD support ;)

can't have everything unfortunately, particularly at this price

    • Would be nice to have both, but for me dual SIM is more useful than SD slot because I can use dual SIM for travelling. I'm not the kind to put lots of videos on the phone so my onboard 16GB is still quite empty. If I really need to copy something to SD, I can get an OTG adaptor.

  • Got the 4G one from a previous eBay sale. If you don't need 4G speeds or expandable storage you can save ~$40-50 by getting the 3G ver.
