There's actually been a few under that is what I'm hinting at… again its been contested by a lot of the crew here we should wait for powered ones.

i dont think those without external power will work well

    • USB 3.0 has around 900mAh output, good enough to support 4 ports :)

you can probably power 4 or even more usb 3.0 memory stick but the most you'll prob get for external hard drives is 1.5 or 2. thats what my previous comment was regarding

        • Keyboard or mouse, usb stick and other "lite devices" :)

@mushtato: why do keyboards or mice need usb 3.0?

        • +1

          @bbyboy:

They don't, but USB memory sticks do, and if your device only has 1 USB port then you would want your hub to be usb3.

  • Will this support 3 x 2TB Portable HDD?

    • Good question

    • Depends on the actual HDD model, if the HDD needs external power source or not.

  • I got a similar one from Tmart or Meritline (I forgot. Bought too many things from them two and the waiting time is always long) a few weeks ago. It has the option to get external power but the power cord was not included in the package.

I have been using it just to charge my devices via my computer (while it is not on, over night). I just discovered last night that somehow the damn thing would not read my USB sticks!

    • this is a good quality one, and definitely reads all USB sticks.

      • "definitely reads all USB sticks."

Whoopdeedoo! As bbyboy stated, 2 portable hard drives MAX!

        • To be fair, he's replying to a post in regards to a hub that didn't read memory sticks. Nothing in regards to powering HDDs.

        • @nafe: fair enough lol

  • I have 2 of these. One for my Surface Pro and the other for a Macbook Pro. Perfect for this usage scenario as I would rarely ever need more than 2 HDD connected, but would connect a mouse/USB stick as well.

BTW I bought my 2 on eBay for about $30 delivered after the 15% site discount.
