31" (79cm) Tall Darth Vader $39 @ Target - RRP $49 - $89

680

For the Star Wars collectors out there, target has on their shelves, a 79cm tall Darth Vader with 7 points of articulation for $39. RRP $49 @ target, $89.95 @ Myers and advertised as much as $368 on other online mediums, like fishpond, amazon, due to shipping cost etc. I’m by no means a collector, but thought this would make a nice fixture in my man cave as a paperweight on my desk or a doorstop for the unsuspecting.

I reckon $1.25 per inch of sith lord is too good to pass up.

EDIT: Target website has incorrectly stated this is only 39CM. I can confirm it's 31 inches (79CM) in height. hence why i thought it was a bargain!

  • Title on website says 39cm, but description says 79cm.
Did you actually see it in store?

bought it this morning before heading to work. it's definitely 79CM.

      • +13

it's 79 cm until the fight with Obi Wan. After that it's 39cm.

        • isnt it Obi Wan that gets sliced in half…?

        • @taylorn8r: that's probably the George Lucas redux version

        • +1

          @cornbeef:

I think taylorn8r means Star Wars: A New Hope. I guess he doesn't get cut in half, he just disappears.

        • I want to pos twice, not fair.
Funniest wit for a long time.

"Suitable For The Star Wars Darth Vader Figure is suitable for children aged 3 years and up."
OMG he exterminated the Jedi… how can he be suitable even for the younglings?
$30 at the cost of the Rebellion? not a bargain!

      • +1

Not a bargain? So these are not the dolls you are looking for

    • Wow. Nice find. Anyone find a clip or review of the figure anywhere? I'm having no luck.

  • 39cm only

    • -1

description says 31 inch. Misleading title

      • link path also says 39cm

        • +2

bought it this morning before heading to work. it's definitely 79CM.

        • +3

The ability to link path is insignificant next to the power of the Force.

    • +31

I find the lack of clarity around its height…disturbing.

      • +1

        i concur

      • +5

        It's a bit like online dating :)

      • +11

Pray I don't alter the dimensions any further.

  • -4

Err RRP is $49 if thats what TArget normally sell it for. I might as well post some Plasma tv bargains at 10k due to amazon shipping

  • Not sure if the $369 was needed, but the figure actually looks well made which is surprising for the price

Edit just checked Deluxe Electronic Darth Vader 31 inch was $89.00 now $59.95 at myer.

I will keep the up vote because I enjoy new people posting but not as great as it seems

  • a new father!

  • +13

I reckon $1.25 per inch of sith lord

Please do not Google that !!!!!

  • +1

Yeah, thinking the 79cm is a typo… especially at $39. Not sure where you read the 31" from???
I'm sure something that big would scare the $#!t out of my 2yo, but that'd be an awesome deal to jump on if it really was 79cm.

    • +4

it's probably gonna be your 2yo worst nightmare, just bought one instore and it stands 79cm tall.

  • +1

    $49-$368 RRP?, yeah right

  • Gotta love the Target reviews…

  • +2
  • Why do you feel the need to include the $368 in the RRP?

Fishpond is like ebay, any idiot can put item on sale there and ask what ever price. If someone ask for $20000000 for this figurine would you then go on and state that its RRP is $20000000?

In truth, it is selling for this price just about everywhere else in the world.

    http://www.target.com/p/star-wars-darth-vader-collector-figu…

Yes, this is a good deal and the best price available to us Aussie but including that $368 in RRP is completely unnecessary.

  • Buy it, keep it in the box for 50 years, profit!

    • If you could keep this thing pristine until 2027 (50 year anniversary of Star Wars) somehow, it'd be worth more than parking the $39 away, im sure of that.

    • if only they come with a box in the first place.

  • Hang on, why is it now 39 cm tall? Target says its 79 cm tall and avexdevil said he purchaced it and its 79 cm tall.

    • Admins took the liberty to edit my post, will rectify.

      • +12

He is altering the deal. Pray he doesn't alter it any further.

    • +1

      It is 79 cm.

Trust the OP, i saw it in store a few days ago and it was definitely 79 cm. Target made a typo mistake, not hard to see why, when it is 31"/79cm and end up being 39 cm.

I just dont understand why people still want to use imperial units. Stupid Brits and Yanks.

      • That, and if you read one of the reviews on it:

Pros: fun for all ages, awesome size, star wars rulz, not bad $, awesomeness
        Cons: need storm troopers aswell

      • +1

Never underestimate the imperials. Strong they are.

      • I've seen them several times and yes, they were around about the 80CM mark.

  • +2

I think ozbargains should have a new rating of dollars per sith inch. Then there will be justice.

  • +1

    HURRAY for justice :)

  • +1

Does it do anything? Ie does have buttons for sounds or lights?

    • +1

The deluxe version sold at myers has a voicebox (activated by the chest piece) and a red lightsaber in his hand for $59.95. this one doesn’t.

      • Thanks -
I went the Myers route, because lets face it.. the voice in addition to the size is well worth it for the extra few $$ :)

      • Which one looks the better ?

  • I thought I saw this in Costco last time I was there for like $35
    Can someone confirm?

    • Yes, looks like the same ones from Costco few months ago, I ended up buying the voice changer mask instead.

  • +10

    ITS A TRAP!

    • thailand

  • They are 79CM. Ive also seen the Superman ones and they are big too

    • +1

Coool….now I can conduct my Superman Vs Darth Vader fight to the death tests on equal grounds.

      • +4

Doesn't that just depend on which arm gets tired first?

        • +1

Not if they're in the same hand! Wait…dammit!

  • Is the Target WELCOME code still valid ?

  • Normally I complain about collectibles being too small, but this figure is the opposite. I usually put action figures on the unused space on bookshelves, so anything more than ~ 30 cm is too high for the shelves. The 6 inch Marvel and DC figures are good but hard to find in shops here in Oz, so need to be Amazon-ed.

    • I know your pain. Where do I put it. http://i.imgur.com/l3ncBzz.jpg

      • I like your collection. On another site I recently saw a picture of somebody's tabletop wargame collection - it occupied several bookshelves worth of space. If we have empty walls, might as well fill this with posters, artwork or shelves with collectables…

  • +3

"Target now offers free Click + Collect for purchases over $40 only. Orders under $40 will incur a $5 (including GST) administration processing fee."

What kind of bullshit is this?

    • it's a disgrace, one reason not to buy this.
If I want to order something then you should go pick it up off the shelf and have it ready for me. If you can't do that for under $40 items then goodbyeeeeeeeeeeeee

      • I'd rather pay $5 for it to be shipped to my nearby store than $9 to me at home.

  • -6

OP should be updated, $39 price is misleading.

With Target, it will cost $44 (39+5) click and collect (4-10 days) or $48 (39+9) delivered.
With HN, it will cost $40 delivered.

    • +1

      In contrast.

HN has no pickup option, so you will have to spend $40 regardless.
Target, just rock up to a shop and pick it up for $39 like I just did.

Not everything has to be ordered online.

      • My local Target aren't stocking it so I've been trying to find something under $5 to add to my order.

        • Undies?

        • @jlogic:
Went a bit over the top and bought screen protectors for my Galaxy Tab.

      • My local one doesn't have stock, they said this offer is online only.

  • None at Target Robina or PacFair

bought one from bigw in the toysale, it's ok it launched in a range with clone troopers.

While the darth feels reasonable quality the clone troopers are terrible quality, gf wanted one and the paint comes off them so easily.

Let niece play with them, so a child ok….. a child who its intended for and she managed to damage the gun on the clone trooper which is part of the arm and scratch up the paint with minimal effort.

So thats a neg on that end.

Big W also had these at 49.95 RRP, we used the rewards card to get them at toysale prices earlier and also used staff discount getting it for 37.95…. and have found heaps of people listing these on gumtree for 70-150 as 'collectors items' when tons are on the shelf at target and bigw Tea tree plaza for $39.

Then found out sat theres the deluxe one that has a lightsaber and voice in myers for 59.95. Had a look at it, buy that one its much nicer. I would have if I didnt have this one.

    • +1

thanks for the info, i think we will go the myer route…i just cant quite get past their description

"You will really feel the power of the force with this impressive 31 inch Deluxe Electronic Darth Vader figure."

  • 2 dozen on shelves at Target, Warr Mall.

  • No signup bonus with HN site anymore?

  • The same Darth figure was also $39 at Big W during their toy sale a few weeks back. Its now back to $49 normal price, but you could probably price match this.

  • That is not Darth Vader… this IS Darth Vader!
    http://www.sideshowtoy.com/collectibles/star-wars-darth-vade…

    • If I'm paying that much I want to be able to wear it.

  • Heaps at highpoint today

  • I hate OZB, now I bought a Darth Vader.
What do you do with it?

    • Put it next to your earphone collection

    • +1

I am going to pose my next to my kid. She is only as tall as Darth Vader :)

Gonna try to figure out how to get her to look like Yoda.

  • Impressive……. most impressive.

  • I got no interest in Star Wars but wondering - will this make a good investment if left in package?

    • Not an expert, but probably not. I think most of the value in figurines is in the era in which the first films were released.

  • +2

    Men. Always measuring length wrong.

  • Mine arrived today and it is indeed 31"
