This one's for whisky lovers. Sounds like an awesome pissup drink fest for only $25. Can't imagine too many sober people at the conclusion of this event.

Dan Murphy's is having a Whisky Showcase at 6 locations across Australia on Thursday the 28th of August.

$25 gets you entry, tasting of over 40 international whiskies, food, this Glencairn Whisky Glass (valued at $9.90), and 'much more' according to their flyer.

    It says only 1 place left in Perth. No conditions to say "1 ticket per person" so I have to assume it's already practically gone.

      Just tried a group booking of 25 for all states and took me all the way to checkout, except for WA which reported only 1 ticket remaining. Has to be a glitch you'd think.

    Thanks. This has got me properly excited. I lost one of my Glencairns, so this makes up for the empty spot. And I get to try a lot of whiskeys that I cannot afford!

    I note that it says "… taste FROM over 40 (etc.),,,". So I'm assuming you get "a few" tickets for your $25 (maybe 5 or so?), and you get to choose "FROM" at ~40 choices, which few you want to taste, for your $25. So I think "$25 gets you entry, tasting of over 40 international whiskies…" in the original post is not correct. I'm just throwing that out there, please correct me if I'm wrong if it says otherwise on the tickets you get when you purchase the deal or whatever.

      Thought about that but figured if that's the case I just make sure I go for ones that I haven't tried or are the more rarer/expensive and I get a nice, free glass out of it and possibly learn more about scotch/whisky/whiskey.

      Valid comment….not sure why you were negged. Agreed it is likely still worth it if you love your whisky, but I wouldn't expect an experience like Whisky Live for that price.

        The reason for the odd neg' is completely inexplicable sometimes Grover… I suspect that a few peeps out there (maybe some of the less-well-spoken-noobs?) misunderstand the concept of negs at first, before they get used to the site… such that if they agree that something you are pointing out is true, but a "bad thing/bad aspect of" the actual deal, they neg the comment… so in a way they are "negging" what they agree is a bad aspect of the deal, not the merit/validity of the comment itself? Maybe. Alternatively it coulda' just been some half-witted dip*&it.

      I've attended their champagne event (where the subject materials included some $300 bottles) and while the really expensive ones were limited in their sampling, if you wanted to try them you could easily. There was no limits but at the same time, i saw someone cut off as she was clearly drunk.

      EDIT: It looks like if you put in any number of tickets other than "1" it gives you sold out. Try with just one at a time and see how you go?

          Weird. I just tried it again and it's saying sold out now, but I definitely tried successfully the first time after I read cyrax83's message. This was using Chrome.

      Was very good but you couldn't move around.
      Thinking back, I am not sure 2 hours of unimpeded whisky tasting would of been a good idea either though.

    Canberra was a great night. I managed to snaffle an empty Hibiki bottle which I've removed the labels from and will make for a beautiful decanter.

    For $25 I got plenty of whiskys, food, a Glencairn glass and a decanter. A much better bargain than Whisky Live IMHO!

      My favorite was the Glenlivet 18 year and the Japanese Whisky (Hibiki and Nikka From The Barrel). Tempted to pick some up at some point.

      Canadian Maple also smelt so unbelievably nice but could only have a couple of sips of that, more like dessert whisky lol.

      Did you guys taste the Talisker cocktail? That was awesome.

      I got 2 glasses coz my mate didn't want his.
