Sony CX220E Camcorder - $150 (Was $288) @ BIG-W

130

Saw this when lining up to pay for our canvas from this deal - https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/153962 (OzBargain life)

Good Guys has the same camera for $244 - http://www.thegoodguys.com.au/buyonline/Sony_HDRCX220_Full_H…

I'm guessing stock would vary store to store. I saw this in the Mount Hutton, NSW store.

edit: I did see a samsung HD camcorder for $100 (half price according to ticketing) but didn't look as good of a deal.

Make sure you get once with an intact security seal. The box on top looks like it has been opened.

What does this do that most mobile phones can't?

    • +10

Record videos that aren't grainy, shaky and in vertical format?

I.e. much larger sensor, better glass, optical zoom, image stabiliser

Not saying most people necessarily need these requirements, but the implication that mobile phones have recording tech even close to that of a dedicated camera is ridiculous. Most low light videos I've seen from phones have been atrocious

    • I bought the CX-240E last year at full price when it came out. The shop had run out of 220E's. From what I saw it is a very similar camera.
The 240E is my first video camera. Phones are shite for recording video especially when it comes to zooming.
I've got no complaint about it so far except that it doesn't have on screen recording of date and time, although this info is in the metadata.

  • I don't understand how this is different to a point and shoot camera with optical zoom that can record 1080p?
