  • Nice offer but I just hate Ms. Office 2007.

  • It has actually been posted in February. The deal was subsequently expired, but looks like Microsoft is coming back with even more EDU offers. Maybe that is the only way Microsoft can sell their Office product to university students, where piracy seems to be the norm. Yeah, $75 is still better than $0.

    • I know there is alternative choice around, but $75 for Microsoft Office 2007 is really good price.

But I wonder whether many uni students will take up this offer, and they still have to fork out $75, which is $75 more expensive than the $0 pirated copy.

      • Those whose parents are willing to pay maybe?

      • Those who understand that piracy is wrong.

By the way, Piracy is Wrong.

Those are unfortunately the minority though.

Is the $75 offer still available? If so please can you direct me to it. I have just got the new Vista and can't use Office 03 on it so hopefully this pkg will work!
Waiting some kind soul who is pc smart to assist with this one……..
      Zena :)

      • Yes it is going to be available from next Monday (hopefully Microsoft is delivering what they have promised!)

However it is only available to students, teachers and academic staffs, and I think you'll need your EDU email address in order to prove your status.

  • I got this when it came out in Feb and I'm really happy with it. Took a bit to get used to but it's pretty good. For $75 you really can't go too wrong. I have tried open office but, at the time, it didn't suit my needs. Although I think they've since added the features I wanted (like side-by-side for widescreen).

  • I too bought this offer when it first came out and it was definitely a great investment. After the initial "OMG where is everything, and how do I do …..", once I got used to the new interfaced I loved it.

Even though it says only 1 per uni account, I was able to successfully purchase more than one licence which I gave to my parents to use.

$75 for a full suite of office products licence is a bargain IMO.

  • Couple of questions….
im a new grad but my uni email address is still actice, am i still able to purchase through it?

Also is it actually a hard copy that gets sent to you (ie the same you buy in shops) or is it a downloadable version like they did in the states??

Lastly I want to buy my bro a copy too, whose 32, if i buy it and give it to him will he have any problems using it as hes not a student??

    cheers

    • As long as your email address is still active and it is recognised by the MS website (they have a list of approved uni's) then I can't see why not.

The purchase is for a licence key which is received via email, and the software you download from MS just like they did in the US.

If you are able to purchase more than one key like I did, then you should have no problem in just giving it to someone as its just a licence key. No other details required when installing, just the key.

      Cheers
      M.

  • A linux user…

    • A linux user…

And you are still voting +1 on this deal! :)

I used to be a Linux desktop user and that's why I ended up with too many files saved as StarOffice 4/5/6 and OpenDocument format — I cannot even change to MS Office if I want it!

  • Cheaper Elsewhere = [http://www.openoffice.org/](http://www.openoffice.org/ "http://www.openoffice.org/") :)

    • You are a clown. This offer is for Microsoft Office Ultimate 07, not ANY office suite

  • insideinfo.. I can't find a page to purchase microsoft office 07 from the website you gave. Can you provide us a direct link?

    • Hey John

Inisdeinfo was just stating that a cheaper alternative is available. OpenOffice is a free alternative to using Microsoft Office.

  • Hi guys new registered here but old viewer "and I love the website"
Basically I finished TAFE last semester but my email is still valid
My wife is a Primary school teacher and have an edu email address
No I just wanna know if legally we can get a copy "either me or her" and not if it is going to work by registering as apparently it is only students and not teachers
    Cheers

    • @kar200 look at this link if your tafe is mentioned here u can get the keycode mailed to you. and from last times experience you can always buy more than one .. not sure how it goes this time

the other alternative is type in your student email address here and confirm it and they will send u a mail to that address if eligible

      hope that helps

      • Hi Yusuf,

I tried that link and my email address did not work???
it is an email @tafensw.net.au and I wonder why it was not accepted\
Any ideas guys or should I try tomorrow when it start officially "it did not start yet right?"

        • hmmmm hope your Tafe was on the list .. if not try contacting them here, they should get back to you as the promotion has started today.

i had a go with my student id and it worked.

          cheers

          • @yousuf: Cheers yousuf and my TAFE is in the list and I don't know why I cannot verify it
As I am an ex-TAFE student I don't think I will get the offer
            Thanks anyway guys
PS : Does it start tonight??if yes ot might be why?

            • @kar200: i am an ex-uni student too …. but have an active student email, and thats all it needs if your TAFE is on the list, ul definately get it just get in touch with them .the offer started this morning, and i do think you have a chance. cheers

              • @yousuf: Thx mand and sorry I am not trying to be a pain but if you go on this link :
                http://www.microsoft.com/australia/education/unistudentoffer…

                you will find this :
his offer commences at 11:59PM (Sydney time) on October 15, 2007 and all purchases must be made via the Promotion web site by 11:59PM (Sydney time) on May 15, 2008 at which time the offer ends.

which for me it means it is tonight that it comences as 11:59PM belongs to the 15th and if it was 0:00 then yes it would have been this morning

                Anyone ?

                • @kar200: i guess ur right there … coz i got this reply when i applied

"Congratulations, you will be eligible to purchase!

A message has just been sent to your email address with a link to the secure student store where you can make your purchase!"

but did not recieve the mail … could be its gonna be sent from tonight .. hmmmmm

  • Alright. In that case I don't think it can be said cheaper elsewhere because it is a totally different product, although similar, but not the same.

    • yup thats actually an alternative … not a cheaper elswhere

    • Agree. I don't think insideinfo's "cheaper elsewhere" is justified.

Otherwise a pen and a piece of paper can be considered as an alternative — no computer needed, nothing to download!

      • Sorry, I was just trying to 'rock the boat'. :)

  • Just a little bump to say that this offer is still active for another month.
UoW are currently promoting it again.
