2030

Beyond that first step into what you can only describe as heaven, the luscious smell of succulent chicken spreads through the air as you take a giant whiff of the fresh, tender loins. Time skips a moment as you can’t help but salivate as all your dreams and urges are fulfilled in this one moment of time. Your heart skips a beat thinking about eating those succulent chicken breasts as you summon the courage to satisfy and throw yourself into those dirty, mouthwatering urges and almost… forbidden impulses. But before you give into the luscious crispy taste of dead chickens, you can't help but wonder what magical secrets lie on the other side of the counter. Forget about the Willie Wonka factory, the true wonders of this world lie behind that KFC counter…

OP - I don't use the word hero often, but you are the greatest hero in American history.

  • Can't wait! Thanks OP!

  • +1

No dates/sessions to select from, which you need to process it…

  • +2

North Perth sold out. The only other KFC's that are open in Perth are Kwinana and South Lake. I missed out and am not driving that far for a feed.

  • +2

I wonder if this is counter marketing due to the Yum/OSI scandal in China. Yum also uses OSI owned company in Australia but recently dropped them.

  • thanks!

  • +1

I wonder how many tickets per store, can't imagine 50 people walking through the tight spaces.

    • +2

      max 6 person on tour

      • Thanks, was hoping for a small amount of people.

  • +2

"What to expect: On Saturday 23rd August 2014 we're opening our kitchens so you can see first hand all the work and care that goes into making your favourite chicken."

Hm… This fellow and his family got to see that work and care:

  • Now we can join the game chicken soccer, goal!

  • +2

Really…??? As part of our occupational health and safety standards, electronic devices such as phones and cameras cannot be used during the tour.

    • +1

common thing when you do these sort of "tours" so that no juicy scandalous videos appear on youtube lol. not to mention the germs that most people's phones harbour(!)

      • +3

Guaranteed +1 to anyone who attends a tour wearing their Google Glass

        • +5

need a deal on google glass first ;)

  • +2

"Forget about the Willie Wonka factory, the true wonders of this world lie behind that KFC counter…"

Geez, I wanna c all those umpa loompas hard at work :)

  • +2

Love how popular this tour is, says a lot about people…

  • +5

And all this time I thought I would have to either sleep with a manager or get a job there to see the behind the scenes of my favorite food.

I am in heaven right now

  • +1

why don't they take people on a tour of the chicken raising sheds and the abatoir and processing facilities? oh, because they would never eat kfc again

    • +4

What does KFC have to do with how their suppliers work? They don't raise their own chickens.

      • +1

No, but the amount they pay their suppliers ensures what sort of standards are (not) being kept.

      • +1

they could easily demand certain conditions if they actually cared. the supplier would provide chickens as per kfc's exact specifications. they can't pass the buck on that, although them and people who want to justify allowing cruelty to make money or eat cheap food will try

  • +4

There is some issue on website?
There is no option under "please select a date to attend" — that's stopping us from registering

    Edit : oops its Soldout

    • +1

For the location I picked it was like that from day one.

  • -6

    No thanks I'm vegan

    • +6

Cool story bro, needs more meat and expletive

    • +3

Good for you. Why did you comment on a deal about a fast food chicken place? Was it so you could make a big deal about your voluntary diet?

      • +15

How do you know if someone's a vegan?
        Don't worry, they'll tell you.

      • No vegan diet, no vegan powers!

      • If by "voluntary" you mean "morally superior" then I guess his answer might be yes.

    • +1

I'll +1 you, cos you were obviously joking lol.

      • sadly, many "real" vegans aren't joking >_>

    • I look forward to the day we add vegans to the table

2 legged mouthy cows is all they are.

      • why would you eat a vegan? its the meat eaters that are fat and juicy.

  • nice

  • +1

    ALL SYDNEY SITES ARE FULL

  • Thanks OP - just booked for my KFC loving teenagers ;) (Central Queensland)

  • +1

    Nothing available in Melbourne :(

  • +2

Real smart KFC, allowing people to book up to 6 tickets at a go.

Sensibly speaking, only 12-18 ppl in each tour group so as to be manageable, all you need is for 3 clowns to book 6 tickets each and it's sold out.
Even if you run 2 sessions only 6 clowns needed to wipe out the whole thing.

Why don't you just restrict it to 2 tickets per person and give everyone a chance?

    • +11

ofey - "Even if you run 2 sessions only 6 clowns needed to wipe out the whole thing."

Would any of those clowns have the initials "Ronald McDonald" ?

    • +1

How dare you accuse Ronald of such wrong doings!

edit: ahh shmahoo got in there first (by a mile).. didn't see your comment on the next page!

    • +1

this is ozbargain. if u limited it to 2 pax.. people would sign up 3 times.
      ha

      • +2

Indeed true, but at that would at least give the "clowns" a few hoops to jump through.

  • +8

I've got the Golden….I mean Greasy Ticket!!!

    Thanks Op =D

  • Many thanks.
I have just booked for myself & kids.

    • -3

      congrats!

Your "Parent of the Year" award is in the mail!

      • +3

I actually admire the teenagers who work in fast food restaurants. They are learning important lessons about the value of money. The training, processes, and corporate structure of companies like KFC and McDonalds are highly effective and intelligent and serve people well as they progress in their careers too.

        • And also learn that the true value in a human being is not the 120 volts as the matrix would have them believe but rather the tax dollars one earns for the government each week.

        • Lol @ admire, you're quite easy to please it seems :P

        • +2

          @montorola: It's relative to other teenagers. :)

        • lol…And also slopping out our food and not much hygiene(scratch here and there). I guess I would never know, since the closest job to that when I had when I was young was stacking shelves at Woolies.

  • Who else has trouble selecting a date?

    • +1

If you scroll down a little you'll probably see its sold out :(
(thats why you can't select a date)

    • +11

Well if your opening line is 'Hey baby, I've got two tickets to a KFC tour' no wonder you can't 'select' a date

      • +3

That might be the problem :(

  • Mmmmmmm Chicken of the Cave!!!

    • Just make sure you don't chicken out of this deal

  • Damn it… I can't go lol I am doing my tax return that day.

    • +5

Just write the fuel off as a business expense

  • farout! all the city/inner city stores are full. Try the western stores… :P

  • +2

Maybe they can get Gordon Ramsay to shout at the chicken to make it more crispy - less "soft".

  • What time is it on?

    • +1

Click the link and find out?

  • +3

hmmmm I was hoping it was like a KFC Willy Wonka factory style tour, would feel weird going to your local KFC and hanging around teens cooking chicken, I'll bring my GoPro to document it, but hey it's 2 free chicken pieces WOOT WOOT! +1 I might also book for another store! 4 pieces… nah petrol and time will kill the day, maybe just disguise myself for the same store for the next visit, i'm sure I will see another ozbargainer doing the same..lol…

  • We'll see if you accidentally drop chicken and pick it up to fryer. Thats how the food done.

  • Hi OzBargainer and OzB's Brother

Thanks for signing up to KFC Open Kitchen Day however I am sorry to say that due to a booking issue with the suburb store we will need to cancel your upcoming visit.

I do apologise for any disappointment this may cause and in an effort to make it up to you I would like to send you out a voucher so you can enjoy some KFC on us.

If you can get back to me with your best mailing address and I will ensure this is arranged for you.

    Kind Regards

    Allister

    KFC Customer Service

    screw you kfc >:(

    • +1

You still got a voucher out of it though!

If that's not enough, you could always express that you are still extremely interested in a kitchen tour and ask them to consider what could be arranged.

      • I hope it's a free voucher though. If they try and send me a BOGOF voucher… >:(

and was actually kinda interested in the tour. I'll un-neg if my voucher is half good. They said they'd send A voucher… yet two of us going… If we only get 1 voucher for food for 1 of us…

Happy to un-neg depending on result.

        • +1

          Neg revoked :)

Got 2 x $25 vouchers in the mail today :D

    Todays the day!

Just finished at Ulverstone, Tas. It was really interesting and Jason was great. Oh and the chicken was possibly the best I've had.

  • Went to the Chatswood store, apparently no one turned up to the 10am session even though it's fully booked out and we are the only people that turned up at the 11am session. Extremely pleased with our host's effort and definitely can see most staff are genuine about putting their workplace on display. Great effort, gave us a large meal instead of small ans fresh chicken > stuff we usually get!

    • Yes my host gave me extras (as per my thread), but I would have been happy with the 2 piece feed. I even offered to pay for my 600ml Pepsi Max before I started the tour. I am still full from earlier, & still don't feel hungry. ;-)

  • I slept in and didn't go to it. Feel kinda bad now.

  • Hi I went. Regrettably I was the only one there as my daughter had a migraine & my son had to look after her. My host was very good and stressed how everything is made as fresh as possible. I was given a smell of the seasoning, and he was interested what I could pick in regards to the 'Herbs & Spices'. Having done a great deal of research & tried to copy, the process is next to impossible unless you have one of their 'hennypenny' pressure cookers. The process from putting the chicken in, until the final product is ready takes " 15 minutes. The guy who does the seasoning is brilliant & very thorough. No doubt this varies from store to store. The gravy is a powder mixed with leftover stock etc from the pressure cookers.
The other thing he wanted to stress is that the reason sometimes orders may take so long is when a large order is in place, and this takes up most of their screen ( I suggested that it might be time to update to some bigger screens). Also, when you have an order where one person orders several burgers, and has each one customised, can delay any simple orders.
My host also gave me more than the minimum specified, but I didn't tell you that. ;-)

  • +2

My host also said, that if today is successful all round, they may have further tours in the future at selected stores.
