thanks… would be useful if the OP put it in the title or description to justify why this might be a bargain…

  • Looks like a rebadge of this which doesn't get great reviews.

I think that Coby unit uses the Reciva platform whereas this AWA unit uses a Frontier Silicon chip and the Frontier platform.

  • Have this one at home. Great little unit.

Considering that DAB radios can only be used where DAB is being broadcast and that is currently only in the Major capital cities (5) then buying this radio for use in Port would mean only the internet radio function is useful.

    • If used with internet radio function only (outside of major cities), I assume it will need a wifi connection. Is this correct Rocky?

      • Not sure with this particular product.

But according to JV's link the unit he says is the same has this

Radio stations free from around the world with a Wi-Fi internet connection

    • It surprises me that DAB+ radios are sold outside of the metro areas into which the digital signals can be received.

Bought one today from Newcastle. Still 6 or so on the shelves.

Small unit, small speakers and they aren't very loud, ok for a kitchen or shed (without grinders cranking) though. Has headphone output which you could plug into and amp with bigger speakers. Screen is a bit old school, navigation is left and right only, inputting passwords for wifi was a bit tedious. Internet radio from around the world is pretty cool. I would believe the claims of 10,000+ stations, I browsed for ages. Locked in Double J and a few US stations no worries. Connected to 2.4 and 5Ghz frequencies.

Only bought it for Double J, worth it, no DAB+ stations that I could find. It is made to a budget (not $98 worth), but honestly, it's not bad! Going back to get another for the missus in the kitchen :-)

    • Dual Channel WiFi is VERY surprising!

  • Good review - thank you.
