    Fine print :

    Not Valid Easter
    Not Valid Schoolies
    Not Valid Gold Coast 600
Not Valid Long Weekends & Public Holidays
    Not Valid School Holiday

    No bargain, more like SPAM…

    • As opposed to any Jetstar deal, who's flights are only valid one day a year, unless it's a leap year, or an eclipse occurs on a weekday, or any other absurd exclusion?
Oh, those aren't targeted at families, so it's on!

      • whenever I book accommodation, its always around this price outside of peak periods… there is nothing special about this promotion unless it WAS in these periods…I agree with JV.

  • +2

It's been this price for at least a month (google cached copy from 17 June has same price).

Is it always this price? Or is this a special price (doesn't seem to be)?

    • It doesn't seem particularly cheap. A Wotif special (pot luck as it may be) still flogs this 90% of the time for the Gold Coast. It's a tough market.

  • +2

Its a deal unquie to travelfactory

Not sure why you would call it spam just because its not valid school holidays etc

People travel at all times of the year with families

Here is the Gold Coast for Wotif youll see that $99 per night for a 2 bedroom apartment slepping 4 is a good deal

    http://www.wotif.com/search/results?destinations=&searchTerm…

    • +6

People travel at all times of the year with families

Most kids actually go to school during school term…

  • +4

It is not a deal to a family with school kids

  • +1

be ok if your kids don't go to school. otherwise this would be an inconvenience

  • +7

the deal may not suit you personally but it will suit other people

You cant look at a deal from only your perspective

Pointing out that its not suited for families with school kids is fine thats what the site is about

But trashing it because it doesnt suit your own situation isnt the purpose of ozbargains

Is it a good deal yes it is

Does this deal it suit everyones situation "no it doesnt" ,, but nor would a .50 cheeseburger if your a vegetarian but that doesnt make it a bad deal

    • +4

Now a $0.50 cheeseburger WOULD be a bargain!

    • +2

You cant look at a deal from only your perspective

Of course we can, that's the whole point of having a Comments section here…

Is it a good deal yes it is

Not if it can't be used because of all the exclusions. And it's not just school holidays…

      • +1

I have to agree here, so many exclusions do not make this a bargain. I can find off peak accom on the Gold Coast for around the same price and in many more locations.

    • +8

What's this about a $0.50 cheeseburger? You should have posted that deal, you would have got way more likes!

    • -2

The issue here, Travelfactory - is not that it personally may or may not suit individuals.

The issue is that it doesn't suit a MAJORITY of people.

Pointing out that it's still a deal when the conditions are right is fine - but for a MAJORITY of people the conditions are not right - and therefore for MOST of us - this is not a deal.

Your cheeseburger analogy is completely different to what you propose. In the cheeseburger analogy - the MAJORITY of people are NOT VEGETARIANS - therefore it IS a good deal.

If it were say - a vegetarian cheeseburger, where MOST people are NOT vegetarians - then it would be more comparable.

      • +1

To be fair, there are many, many deals posted targeted towards a minority… Just because this is one of those does not warrant a neg.

    • +2

But you call it a 'family' holiday! How am I supposed to use this deal as a family when it is not valid in school holidays?

  • +2

    Not Valid Easter
    Not Valid Schoolies
    Not Valid Gold Coast 600
Not Valid Long Weekends & Public Holidays
    Not Valid School Holiday

    When the deal is Valid?

    • +6

      When the deal is Valid?

      February 29th…

  • +2

People are being negative about the availability dates, but seriously, Schoolies and GC600 are niche events and attract premium pricing in every hotel/apartment on the Gold Coast. As for the other holiday dates, they are always more expensive, just like plane flights etc.

This is good deal. Centrally located in the middle of Broadbeach Mall. It's quiet above street level too. There is a bus and tram stop out front and directly opposite in the mall is Woolworths. Beach is 200m.

    • +4

People are being negative about the availability dates

Maybe the rep should have mentioned the significant exclusion periods, rather than hide them in the fine print of the website…

      • +4

I agree with jv. This is only suitable for couples and not for families. With so many exclusions and not a mention of it, seems like rep didnot want to clear about the deal.
Personally I dont know many families who will go on holidays for 5 days during school days.
I would appreciate if rep post a deal for school holiday period when people are actually looking for bargains.

  • +2

most travellers that want a 2 bedroom apartment are going to be families. your excuses are annoying people because this is just your offpeak price (trying to make people stay extended time to avoid vacant rooms) and your argumenting. Its not a great price for what it is.

  • +4

Thanks rep. Got family coming down overseas that may consider this deal during off peak which would be more of a benefit imo. Less crowds & cues all round, cheaper flights, no annoying school kids etc all good. I too may snatch it up since my kids are under 3 and aren't going to school atm. Yes the exclusions should have been added to the info but then again people will be whinging anyway. Like the rep said the deal may not suit you personally but it will suit other people. For $499 for 5 Nights Accommodation for Four People in a 2 Bedroom, 2 Bathroom Apartment is a deal unless you want to pay full price. If someone want to point out a cheaper deal with same accommodation & travel period from their website please do otherwise the negs should only be warrant for not showing the exclusions.

  • +2

Good deal, we have young kids who do not go to school yet and this is perfect for us. Thanks.

  • +2

I worked at a dodgey call centre for a few weeks cold calling random people to sell them holidays. For the same timeframe on the Gold Coast it was $400 and that was their price 24/7. NOT A DEAL! SPAM.

  • +5

Seriously, for a bunch of ozbargainers you dudes need to man up! Surely you would all know that the best way to get holiday deals is to go in off peak times. Take your kids out of school for a week. It is not just the accommodation, theme parks and attractions are normally cheaper outside of school holidays/Easter etc. Going during those peak periods is madness for an ozbargainer, why would you even consider it. My kids are at the pointy end of high school (yr 8 and yr 11) and we would take them out of school if we were going to the GC.

I reckon you guys are being harsh on the OP. I don't think this is SPAM. If you think this isn't great then post up a better deal. No reason to neg. Even the exclusions are almost an industry standard for accommodation.

    • +1

Not doubting the fact that off peak is the way to go to save a buck, but these are regular off peak prices, bargain? sort of I guess.

      • +1

Strangely enough though, the only person providing alternative pricing - besides the whole hand waving "it's cheaper elsewhere" - is the OP..

And comparing the prices for this exact location against Wotif show that it is cheaper.

  • The fine print isn't spam. Also, Qld have different school holidays to the rest of the country.
    Great deal Travel Factory!!!

  • Firstly I hear what you all say, some i agree some i dont

But nowhere on the ozbargain site does it say what the demograhic of the users are.

It could 70 year olds or 20 years olds. animal lovers, campers, caravaners, couch potatoes etc

We as posters (REPS) have no idea.

But one thing i do know is that everyone who visits this site is looking for a deal not a good deal not a ok deal but a fantatsic deal.

As mentioned before not all deals are for everyone but we post them hoping that it hit the right mark for SOMEONE and there situation

What i learnt along time ago is that everyone knows someone who can do a better deal but when pushed comes to shove for some reason its no longer available.

So can the guy who did telemarketing and was saying that any day of the week he can get a deal for $400 and that its better than what Im offering please post a link with all its conditions etc Because ID really like to see that,
