Refurbished Google Nexus 7 (2012) Wi-Fi, 32GB $94.99 Delivered @ Expansys

1500

Long time viewer, first time poster.

Old version of the Nexus 7. Had a quick look on OzBargain and I think this is the cheapest price so far.

Might be good for those who have young ones in the family or just need a decent small tablet.

3G version for $115 (thanks 18)

EDIT: Expansys daily deal: 16gb version for $84.65

Call me old fashioned, but the sheer number & frequency of these things on offer as refurbs really raises a red flag with me. I need a new 3g tab, & this is a great price, but I'm loathe to risk it!

  • +2

Fantastic deal and especially for the 3g. I've had one for about 8 months, no issues, a bit slow but still plays all games. That said my Nexus 5 died two weeks ago and I had to get it replaced under warranty.. But that's made by LG and this is Asus.

  • Just got order confirmation. Waiting to send. I'll take a chance

  • I bought two refurbs from Centralfield late last year. One bricked itself when I tried to install the OS update. It was repaired by ASUS. Other than that they are great devices (but I never tried another update).

  • +1

If you really really want it, it's okay for the price I guess

However don't expect super snappy performance - mine gets slower with time, and crashes/hangs whenever it feels like
Maybe it'd be better to spend a little extra and get something more future proof.

    • +1

Problem is "a little extra" is often double or tripple, and then something new and shiny will be out to tempt you into another purchase after that.

    • +1

after update it, factory refresh to flush the old setting away (some user recommends it)

Still waiting for a good Ozbargain deal on 2013 model…

    • Yeah, me too. I keep missing the Nexus 7 ( 2013 ) 16GB deals for around $199 from the recent ebay deal, two times ( maybe more often ) Shopping Express deal, and I think Dick Smith deal. If I keep missing these, soon that will be the normal price for a 32GB new Nexus 2013. Surely when the next model ( 2014 ) comes out, a new Nexus 7 ( 2013 ) 32BB should be should drop in price and under $230. I am a bit wary that a dearer Nexus 8" only will come out, and prices remain over $200.

  • thanks OP, needed something basic to play Spotify in the lounge rooms system.

  • +2

Price has been raised to $123.47+shipping

    Dear Valued Customer,

I hope that you are well.

Thank you very much for your business, we really appreciate it.

I just noticed that due to a delay in processing on this unexpected
high demand refurbished item, we may not be able to fulfill your
order for a little while, which is definitely not what we want to
happen! So I’ve had a quick look into this for you, as no doubt
you’re keen to receive your order in full ASAP, as much as we are.

It seems to be the case, that we don’t have an exact date right now
of when we shall be receiving stock for this item although we have
been informed more refurbished batches are being processed as we
speak. We are in conversation with our supplier and hope to be able
to provide a clearer idea of an estimated delivery date for you soon.

Can you please let me know – would you like to wait for the stock to
become available? Or, would you prefer to select another item that we
have in stock right now, so that we can complete your order for you
    earlier?

Either way, it’s your call, it’s certainly not our endeavour, or
desire to inconvenience you, or to change your order at this point.
We’re just keen to get your order sorted in a way that suits you, so
that you can be as happy as possible with your shopping experience
    with us.

Please let us know what your preference is when you can, so we can

Where are we at if we want a complete refund instead? I noticed that wasn't one of their choices.

I'm all for waiting for a bargain but I don't want this to drag out weeks or months…

  • Picked up two for the girls, already have one for my son and one for ourselves, both refurbished and no real problems. fantastic price, worth it alone for minecraft and movies.

  • +1

Ive asked for refund. hopefully they accept my request. I ordered at 7am yesterday.
very dissapointing. first and last time buying from a disorganised seller.
they even try and persuade you to buy something else and not offer a full refund.

  • Yeah I Copt the same grubby email.

  • Got the same email as above…

  • Hmmm, got the same email as above, emailed them and asked if they had any idea of an ETA otherwise I might consider something else. At that time no payment had been taken from my card.

I'm omitting some details here but got an email today at 12:51 saying "We would like to let you know that your order has been processed and it will be dispatch to you very soon."

Payment has also been taken from my card.

Then at 13:07 I get the above email about it not being available again. What the hell?!

Needless to say I have emailed back seeking clarifcation of what's going on.

    • Did the same, still waiting to hear back.

    • Same email. It may just be a holding thing considering those that got the follow up email agreed to wait.

      ** EDIT **

Just got an email saying it has been shipped. Let's see how long this takes.
DHL shipping info says that it is coming from Hong Kong.

      • Got a reply:

        Dear Customer,

We have been informed most of the refurbish stock will be complete next week.

Thank you for your patience. We will prioritize your order and notify you as soon as the items are in stock and ready for dispatch.

It should not be too long

        Thank you again.

        Regards,
        CS

  • Got an email back, said they will put my order on priority and will be in stock in a week or 2. Hopefully they keep to their word as I'm happy to wait that long. I asked if they could send express when they get it as they have stuffed up here.
Will see what I get back.

    • Fair call re express, they probably won't (or say they will and don't follow through) but interesting to hear what (if any) response comes back.

1-2 weeks is perfectly fine, but given the volume of ozbargaining that has occured I'm worried it will be a few restockings before we're all catered for. 1-2 weeks quickly becomes 1-2 months and so on. That's when I'm not cool about waiting.

    i checked my DHL status.
it left 30/07 and is in sydney today 31/7 1500.
    should be delivered tomorrow.

    i love couriers.

    • Did you get yours yet?

Just wondering if anyone has had any problems with expansys in requesting a cancellation and refund on their order? Sent numerous emails to them and cant seem to get a decent response except their automated reply emails. Also their phone contact number is a joke it always goes to message bank no matter what time of the day you call and they don't callback after leaving detailed messages. God help people that buy anything from them if it is faulty or breaks in their warranty period.

    • +1

Contact is a bit of a joke. Just had an email from them and its marked on my order that my card was declined, but it has already come off my card a couple days ago, so I think they tried a second time.

Luckily its just a debit card that I use solely for online purchases and only ever have enough in there for what I'm buying.

Sent them another email but they seem REALLY disorganised.

  • +2

mine was delivered today DOA!, will contact them and share the experience with you guys.

    • received full refund today, they responded promptly to my emails and the return process was simple.

  • I just got an email to say it's been sent! Last email they sent me said they couldn't tell me when more stock would come in.

I ordered mine 1:26 pm Wednesday.

  • +1

I got the same email about no available stock. Just sent them an email to confirm warranty start date will be when item is shipped, not the purchase date. Will let you all know what they say….not impressed with their service so far.

  • Bought on the 30th July, arrived 1st August.

Manually updated to latest available official stock Android 4.4.4 (avoided using OTA update as it has been reported to potentially brick the device.)

    No problems… so far.

    • How did you update to that?

  • Mine came today!

    • Surprised it has no camera apart from the front 1.2MP one.

  • Got mine, doing all the imports and updates. See how it goes.

I did have a moment where the screen had a mind of its own thinking that I was tapping the screen in a certain point. It stopped so I don't know if it picked something up on the screen but will be watching it.
Annoying if I have to make a return less that 1 hour out of the box!

    • My wife used it quite a bit last night and then a bit this morning. Surprised it only had 37% charge left this morning. It was fully charge at 7pm the night before. Took about around 2.5 hours to go from 11% to fully charged.

Other than that has been working well so far fingers crossed.

EDIT also the charging point was US did it say that in the description? Luckily I had another powerpoint thingee with a USB so was fine but found that odd considering I purchased it from an AU site.

      • I'll monitor the battery life when it comes off charge too.

Mine came in the original box with a european power plug but they chucked a universal adaptor into the bag (not the box) that will convert it. It is only micro usb so not a biggie I guess.

      • So far (touch wood) I have not had any problems with the battery and the screen being possessed seems to have stopped.
Really happy with it so far, having a play around on the features and getting used to stock android after being on samsungs bloat OS mod for the past year (SGS2).

Yet to get a sim for it as I have been pairing it with my mobile but now tempted to get a cheap data sim for it.

        • Yeah since I initially said it didn't seem to last long I have found it being better. We'll at least my wife has. So far so good. Risk seems to be paying off.

  • ask for refund after a week's wait. quite happy with the smooth refund process.

  • +1

Totally pissed off at this mob - they have massively oversold this deal from their website - i was told they have over 120 people who purchased the deal and are all still waiting for their devices. They cant give any firm dates for delivery, you cant call them, they wont call you. They even tried to offer me a 16GB unit but without any further discount.

  • Just got offered a 16gb with $20 discount, or refund. Tempted to take refund but that's a pretty cheap 16gb tablet too so I bit. Only 20 available and 115 people on the waiting list still so it's a first in first served gig. If they stuff this up I'll be gunning for my refund.

  • Clearly there's cr@ppy communication with their sales & inventory system.
They were quick to send an almost instant invoice on the sale purchase but a are slow to supply the product.
    These guys are grubs!!

  • Can't believe I got mine so early when I was one of the last to order. I did order the 3g version so maybe I had that going for me. Must have got lucky with the right person from the sales team.

  • +1

I ordered the 16GB version and received it very quickly.

Unfortunately it did not power up, only a flickering screen. After some research I found a very easy fix. The back cover needed to be removed and the battery connection disconnected for a few seconds. Working fine now and very happy with the tab.

  • They offered me the 16GB version at a discount as well.
I took the offer and received my first one in the mail today.
The second one I ordered is on its way and should be here sometime this week.
Hopefully there isn't any problems with them…

  • I lodged a paypal dispute as I my $115 tablet came with an EU adaptor as opposed to an AU one. I decided to ask for $15 back and surprisingly enough expansys didn't bother to reply to the dispute and I was awarded the $15.

Which now makes this 3G tablet $100 - bargain!
