Samsung Galaxy Note 3 (N9005) 32GB (Unlocked) $799 @ The Good Guys (Or Price Match at JB Hi-Fi)

15

Most (physical) shops are doing $850+ for a 32GB LTE version Samsung Galaxy Note 3.

Good guy is advertising $799 on their website, print and took it to JB and price matched happened. Cool ~~

I was told by JB this phone has 2 years warranty, pretty happy with it as I expect there is only 1 year warranty. (anyone can validate?)

Hope it helps who wants a local stock.

Kogan has it for $549+shipping, but its grey import. Is $250 extra worth it for Australian stock?

Yes, if it means better warranty repair service, replacement warranty service, customer support etc etc.

    • for me, no it wasnt. i got mine from kogan as well, but there is certainly value in some peoples eyes buying a local product.

    • +3

      Definitely NOTe !

    • I think Kogan requires shipping to Sydney for warranty handling; so if you don't live in Sydney, that's an extra issue to factor in

I bought mine when it was released for 800 when HN had trade-in deals…

in a few months Note 4 will be announced and the price will drop even more..

If this was a release date price, why not but Note 4 is just around the corner

brought it for 825 at jb when it was launched, this isn't worth 799 for almost a year old model.

  • phone sold by Australian retailers come with 2 years manufacture warranty, including iPhone & Samsung, etc. which is regulated by ACCC

  • Worth the $250 difference vs grey import now? No.

Note 4 to be announced in September. Pricing obviously expected to be around $900-1000+

Better to wait for that and see this price plummet or just buy the new model.

It's very sad that they expect people to actually buy this at that price…

if history is any guide with samsumg fones they never "plummet" even 2nd hand.. in fact its always amazed me that they have kept such good prices even after a new fone is released. i have only owned samsung fones starting with an i9000 and currently an n9005

      • Not sure how to answer you briefly as I'm typing on my phone.

The grey market and the Aus stock market are very different and it's perfectly ok to keep comparing prices at a domestic level but as we are becoming more globalized, you'll see that grey stock is becoming more popular and that it is only the Australian retailers who keep up the higher prices due to the 'Australia tax' on electronics.

I won't use the Aus. Stock market as my point simply because it's the retailer's choice to keep a higher price.

Let's take for instance the s5: launching price of around $900
Specials now take that price down to $500+
It hasn't been a year but prices are beginning to fall without it being superseded.

The Galaxy Note 3 launched with a $880-900 price and it's still being sold for close to that domestically. Yet grey stock has lowered down to $579-650 back in March

Finally, retailers in Aus. clear out stock of superseded models and thus their shelf life doesn't reflect the deceases in price.

you see. this is exactly my point….. there has been NO "plummet".. ever… with samsung fones. even you admit that the note3's have been around the same price for the last 5 months

grey stock has lowered down to $579-650 back in March

the only "plummet" is the difference between aus stock with its local warranty and the grey imports with no warranty (grey import has no warranty if the seller ceases trading)

fwiw… i paid less for my grey import note3 3 months ago than its currently selling for……
