Bear in mind that it is a pain to get the ACER Cashback, Also the extended warranty has to be registered within 7 days of Purchase, also it has a pretty $hitty Battery life, so be mindful of that, but other than that, it is the best specs for a laptop under 500$.

I hope the Trackpad works on your piece.

===========================
PS: I bought the Acer and returned it for a cashback because the trackpad was dead on arrival. but This is a better deal than the Toshiba .
Also it has a full numberpad.

Edit: This deal is still open, Jst checked they have plenty of stock.

  • I did this the other week for my mother. Great specs for the price IMO.

    • I would probably rather save money and get this - http://shopap.lenovo.com/students/au/en/laptops/lenovo/g-ser…
      Cheapest and best value laptop on the market at the moment + much better build quality then Acer

      Lenovo G50-70
      $475.04 inc. GST & delivery

      • +1

        Core i3, 500 gb

        • Newer motherboard with newer chipset, newer 4th gen intel CPU, more power efficient, same amount of cores, Newer built in Intel GPU no cash back hassle required, delivery Aus wide free, Better warranty
          List goes on.

      • WTF??? Lenovo build quality is pretty mediocre IME…watch those keys pop off like bloody pogs!

        • running 10 of them in our office solid as a rock… "chick let key's" you may have older versions

          @vid_ghost:

          running 10 of them in our office solid as a rock…

          I would say exactly the same of the 30+ Acers floating around our offices at any given time.

          Conversely, the Lenovo units sent to us about a year ago for testing (pending possible deployment) were simply junk, I don't rate them at all…YMMV however.

        • The guy who sold computers to my business told me that the "for the office" models of some computer brands, which cost a lot more, were very different to the "home" models.

          Just saying there's a chance you are comparing pears with oranges

        • @foundit: Nope, we get very near the same consumer models you can buy off the shelf…our organisation won't shell out for business grade laptops.

          FWIW, my own current work lappy is almost identical to the one on offer here (only a few digits in the model designation different, but very similar specs); it's like a Timex…*takes a lickin', keeps on tickin'! ;)

  • I am tempted by the W4 Windows 8.1 Tablet for $348, then $49 cashback would be a $299 W8.1 Tablet.
    (Also going O/S in next 28 days which means I could get TRS on $348), $267 is a good price.

      For info, they increased it to 60 days. Used to be about 30, but now anything you bought within 60 days can be GST-refunded (>$300).

    • link?

  • I think it's been that price for a while.

  • I bought the Aspire V5-572P-33224G50Aii from MSY yesterday… took a while to apply the Windows Updates (https://community.acer.com/t5/Notebooks-Netbooks/screen-mess…) and upgrade it to 8.1 but for $450 after rebate it's pretty good value for money (if you hang out long enough you can probably get a similar spec'd one for $400 from somewhere - I did last year in the June 30 sales but they seem to be a lot rarer lately).
